The song that really did suffer because of 9/11, although in the US rather than in the UK, was 'Castles In The Sky' by Ian Van Dahl. Whilst it was never going to be a massive hit, it was slowly edging its way up the Billboard Hot 100 in September 2001 (it had been a number 3 hit in the UK a month earlier) but after the events of 9/11 it was quickly dropped by radio and vanished from the charts. It would later re-enter the chart but it never regained its momentum. It's an excellent song but the lyrics were considered by US radio bosses to be inappropriate after 9/11. |
