With all the venom and negativity surrounding the Master's new female incarnation, I thought we should have a place for those who really like her as a character.

I for one think it's a genius plot twist, and I love Michele gomez's character. A fine actor. And one who I'm sure can bring something new and exciting to a classic role. Regardless of which type of sexual organs she may have.

The negativity on here is sad. I believe they're trying to outdo each other with who can be the most negative - it's pathetic and they need to grow up.

Anyway, Missy/Mistress is fab - and Michele plays her really well. I kind of thought she may have been The Master, but I wasn't certain - I'm glad Moffat went there.

I've enjoyed the brief glimpses we had before this episode.so like the character.
Doesn't bother me having a female Master(though I wouldn't want the same for the Doctor).
Actually when she said Missy short for Mistress I thought for a minute it was going to be Romana gone insane.

I couldn't imagine Roger Delgado snogging Jon Pertwee.

I think it gives a different dynamic to the relationship between the two - plus it sticks two fingers up to those who wanted the Doctor to be female

I thought she was actually pretty spectacular. I was such a fan of John Simm's Master but I'm really loving this latest incarnation. She seems crazy without looking like she needs medication. Hoping this isn't her only stint to be honest.

She was so good she rather changed my mind about the possibility of a female Doctor. It is something I have always been sceptical about but I suspect an MG Doctor would have been a lot more enjoyable than the PC Doctor of this season. She certainly knows how to wear a hat.

It's about time the show tore up the rule book - Very glad they've decided to do this! And they've picked the perfect actress for the job!

Fantastic performance by a great actor. Also think she's really rather sexy to boot. Perfect casting for what I personally think was quite a brave move by Moffat. Whilst last night was lively to say the least on here, I've not read any criticism of Ms Gomez's portrayal. Finding out what the hell happened to the Master will be very interesting. Well, I assume it will be addressed, anyway.

Um, so we call her The Mistress then? Guess so. And SM must've decided they didn't need another Scottish accent!

She's an outstanding actress; well worthy of being the first female to play the role.

That said, I STILL don't want a female Doctor. :l

I think she's brilliant. A perfect choice.

Think she's a great character and Gomez a fantastic actor

All these people moaning that she should have been Rani/Romana or what not need to get a grip. No-one would know who these are - imagine that as a cliffhanger ending - everybody going who?????

Also nice idea that the master is female - if a male actor had played Missy's teaser scences this series everyone would have worked it out by now

She is a brilliant actress. I know nothing about her at all. Yet on the other hand we have Danny pink . Yawn

I've no problem with her as a enemy but just not the master.

Wait. This isn't a thread for adulterous/ masochistic men?

Gomez is fine so far, even though I'm not a big fan of the Master as a whole (JNT
was wrong to bring him back-he belonged in the Pertwee era).

Moffat has shown again that he will do whatever he thinks is exciting to do without worrying about precious fans and thank goodness. I'm so bored of seeing Doctor Who playing safe. It hasn't been poor, far from it, but it has become more hidebound in recent years.Think about when they first brought the show back: they could do anything with it at that point; all bets were off. I want to watch a show that's alive and creative, not tiptoeing around self-important fans.

Missy is a huge, camp character: just like the Master has always been. the only disconnect between this version and the previous ones is gender. The character is totally spot on. This is how the Master would be if he were a woman.

I thought it was brilliant.

The Mistress did as he/she always does, got into The Doctors head and did everything to throw him off the scent of his/her current scheme.

Kissing the doctor, pretending to be a droid, openly baiting him. All good stuff!

Fantastic acting by Michelle Gomez, she had me believing she was a droid for a second as well!

I also think the Kiss was awesome just because The Master and The Doctor kissed.

I can't wait for next week.

This is precisely what I thought too... a very clever piece of scripted misdirection which could have gone either way - Master OR Romana.

Happy for it to be the Master, but I think perhaps Romana would have been a tad more of a shocking reveal...

I liked the character but when they revealed she was the Master I was a little disappointed that she's just the latest incarnation of a character that's been well overused.

They could have at least made her a new character or someone who hasn't been brought back several times already.

She seems cool so far. She gave off a very Master vibe even before the whole Missy connection.

Michelle Gomez is incredible. One of only two issues I had with RTD's era was how Simm's Master was directed but I get the vibe that Moffat just 'gets' the character of the Master.

I wasn't keen on her being the Master but Dark Water has blown that view out of the water.

Gomez is now saying that she was offered a earlier role in the season but couldn't do it due to filming another show. She then wrote to Moffat asking him to consider her for another part in the show and he gave her the role of "Missy". I guess she was asked to play Miss Delphoix in " Time Heist" but couldn't do it?
