The Trouble with TV today.
I understand the big reveal was who Missy was but how about not telling us the Cybermen were involved and they came out of St Pauls cathedral.
How great would it have been to watch and notice the window shapes were like Cybermen eyes and as the story progresses you guess or am shocked by the reveal. Then you are surprised again by St Paul's Cathedral. Why do we have to have things spoilt. Why can't we just wait for the surprise reveals? I remember before the internet and before trailers that we would spend a week guessing and surmising then to talk with shock and/or excitement after the next episode. The internet has made us impatient and it makes me sad |

It's almost impossible to avoid spoilers. But if you're fond of a doctor who forum it's sort of part in parcel. Can be avoided if you try hard enough I supoose.

Avoiding spoilers isn't a problem. I do a good job of that but why must there be spoilers? Why must the trailer show the Cybermen? Why must there be articles in papers and magazines and on the internet about the final episodes. It never used to be like this.
How would people feel is the trailer for Sixth Sense started with the line. Little did he know, he was dead all along. |

Cybermen marching through Cardiff and London didn't go unnoticed. It would have spread with or without an announcement.
But yes, it is possible. Some people do watch blind. But you have to limit your exposure. I agree, it would have been a great reveal had it not been announced and trailed. But then, we were there for another reveal

Hmmmm. Remember last week Clara asked about the whole tree thing and the Doctor said people forget. You mentioning Cybermen walking through Cardiff etc made me think. If we saw trees in London it would spread quicker on the internet than the trees themselves. We may forget but the internet remembers everything.
Sorry for the unrelated post. Lol |

I never knew there were Cybermen in the finale; big surprise to me. But I avoid the 'Next time...' bit like the plague.

If they hadn't announced it beforehand it would have leaked anyway. St pauls is a busy tourist attraction.

I didn't actually know about any Cybermen turning up till about two weeks ago when someone on here told me, and that was only because I asked him. Not sure how I avoided it but the information wasn't really everywhere.

OP I agree with you.
This would have been a great episode to not spoil in the trailer, and better for their presence to just gradually reveal itself throughout the episode, leading up to the iconic St Paul's Cathedral image. This series seems to have got so much wrong. |

I think the reveal of Cybermen in trailer was a bad decision, sometimes trailer creaters make bad choices though as seeing them would have been better without knowing their involvement
