not a lover of Charleston on the show and if I'm honest usually skip them when they are on but did enjoy Sophie and brendans one as they seem to capture the right vibe.

I have though in recent years come to respect Charleston as a dance and what it represents of that era and of course it is the root from which other dances evolved from quickstep to linddy hop and ultimately jive

Like you two I was never a fan of the Charleston. It didn't seem like a proper dance just a short-term, low skilled fad, from an elite minority that came and went for a short spell in the 1920's.

But last year Diamond Betty posted with such erudition and passion that I started to consider it anew. I wouldn't call myself a fan of the style but I am now trying to learn to appreciate it as a credible style and a forerunner (so I understand) of many other styles that developed from it.
Good point!

Yes, I do acknowledge the contribution the Charleston made to modern dance. Done properly it is credible. And in it's time I am sure it was great fun. I just don't want to watch it now.

I loved Chelsee & Pasha's. She was so cute and quirky in it.

I liked Sophie and Denise's. Natalie's was pretty solid, too.

And, um, Ann's, too... for the wrong reasons. (Sorry.)

Chris Hollins and Ola's is the one I've enjoyed the most. He may not have been the best dancer overall but he was totally suited to the cheeky style of a Charleston.

I also enjoyed Sophie and Brendan's, Denise and James', and Kimberley and Pasha's.

I thought Sophie's was horrendously overmarked.

She did so little with her arms and hands that it almost qualified as Irish Dancing. Easy to look good when you're only doing half the dance.

Chelsee's was the most complete Charleston I've seen.

Real shame about them going out of synch when he took her coat off. But that's Pasha for you - his first priority is to teach his partner the dance. If there's insufficient time remaining to blend the moves into a polished routine, then so be it.

I think we saw that last night with Caroline. She absolutely nailed all of the moves, but there wasn't enough time left to perfect the transitions.

Horrible, horrible dance. I loathe it with a passion

So for me the question is which Charleston didn't make you want to gouge your eyes out with a spork?

That would be Sophie's.

.
Absolutely.

I liked Dani Harmer and Vincent's Charleston fusion dance - great music too.

I'm not sure but it wasn't Chris Hollins .. he had no swivel whatsoever and was flat footed throughout.

I liked Kara's, Ali's, Kimberley's and Sophie's. This year .. I loved Thom's.

Matt and Aliona's Charleston is one of my favourite ever Strictly dances. I like it because it's not too polite and clean. I like Charlestons that are slightly messy.

I loved Natalie and Artem's slightly subversive Charleston last year ( but then I am weird ).

I also really loved Natalie Lowe's Charelston this year with Tim Wonnacot - Just a pity it was wasted on Tim Wonnacot.

I thought this one was really good too, it really captured the 1920s feel.

For me it's a toss up between Denise Van Outen and Natalie Gumede

Alot of the music choices put me off alot of the better ones so I actually enjoyed more Kimberley and Pasha's. Laila and Antons was not bad either.

ETA: Totally forgot about Matt and Aliona's, theirs was brilliant!
