I was never a fan of Ali Bastion but I do remember her Charleston in a positive way - which must mean something.

Agreed - I didn't think much of Kimberly througout the series, then at the end she did this fantastic Charleston and a stunning American Smooth.

That was pretty cute actually! I only watched very casually at that stage so maybe didn't see it/can't recall it, but they actually made a passable stab at a move called 'Flying Charleston' which doesn't happen often on SCD.

(Here's Frankie Manning the 'Ambassador of Swing' doing it very slowly - I think he's almost as old as Bruce is now in this particular clip https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OOLSFV-pL80)

A very tricky question.

My top five (in order) are:

Sophie and Brendan's (should have got 4 10s not 4 9s! )
Denise and James's
Kimberley and Pasha's
Louis and Flavia's
Chris and Ola's

I love the charlestons, favourites are:
1. Holly Valance and Artem - quirky and different
2. Sophie Ellis Bextor and Brendan - was so sorry not to see this again in the final
3. Louis Smith and Flavia - thought this was their best after the showdance
4. Denise van Outen and James - Loved the Egyptian theme, wasnt sure it would work but it did
5. Kimberley Walsh and Pasha - favourite of their dances
5. Chris Hollins and Ola - fun

While everyone is discussing one of my pet dances in such find terms (something I never thought I'd see in my lurking days!) I figured I'd throw a' 'real world' Charleston into the mix:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cjHeD3O3sG0 (it's a lot more subtle than an SCD Charleston, but with more authentic Jazz movement (and only a little comedy!) I picked this one because it's a girl/boy duo, al la Strictly, to a modern electro swing track ie, the genre that Artem used for Holly and Natalie, and the girl, Ksenia, is one of my current favourite dancers).

Hope y'all enjoy it!

The only ones I really remember fondly are the Sophie/Brendan and Denise/James ones.

Love it! I love the mood. I love how loose-limbed it is. It kind of makes me think it's like an attitude to life as well as a dance.

Sophie and Brendan for the shock factor it was just perfect for her and sort of abolished the stuffy english rose label she had had. Forever mourned that we did not get to see it when she could polish the lifts

Kara and Artems for being the first one I actually liked.

No one this year has really got it yet.

My favourites are Matt & Aliona's and Chelsee & Pasha's, for all round dance content brilliance and sheer joy

Also thought Natalie & Artem's was great, and DVO & James' was also impressive, but didn't like the music for either which spoiled my enjoyment of them a bit.

Can definitely see why Sophie & Brendan's, Louis & Flavia's and Chris & Ola's are still so popular too! Fun/stylish, and they all looked like they enjoyed dancing them a lot which is great to watch.

PS DiamondBetty, fab link, thanks. Odd that I really like this, some other electro swing stuff, and the Holly/Artem one, but just wasn't very keen on Nat/Artem track. Wonder why that is. Just been watching some other dances of theirs on YouTube - Ksenia's solo stuff is a-ma-zing
