According to their Facebook page there will be an announcement tomorrow. New tour? New album? Who knows, but I can't wait!

Thoughts??

Hopefully it's an announcement to say they have split up for good, and will not be releasing any more material, and to apologise for subjecting people to their back catalogue.

They are going to announce that after 2 posts in 2 yeas, Dan Procter is now considering a 3rd.

3) I have a life, which stops me from posting 11,000+ posts, so ignore number 2

Put it in appreciation then, not the general music forum.

One of the few acts, allong with queen and Michael Jackson that I will literally turn the radio off if they come on, just detest them.
Thought they jacked it in years ago to be honest.

I'm not asking for my approval. I'm searching for a sense of humour. Better look elsewhere.

Or how about Simply Another Shade of Red? I'll have a look at the Dulux colour chart for possible ideas

Yeah that sounds good Or how about Simply Yellow? Simply Orange sounds too much like an advert for a well-known 'phone company.

If Mick Hucknall left they could be just called Simply.

Sounds too much like the manufactured pop 'rebel'

Mick Hucknall may be a knob but they have done some good songs.

OP ignore the comments, most people on here are only really interested in chart music, so they probably wouldn't be interested in a band who hasn't been in the charts for a while.

I know only two or three songs by them (which I quite like), so I can't judge, but I had no idea they are so hated

Horribly bland, dull, watered down soul lite band with a singer who has an ego the size of London.
The only decent song they ever did was an insipid limp cover of a great song - Moneys Too Tight To Mention by The Valentine Brothers. And one of my pet hates is when people call If You Don't Know Me By Now a Simply Red song. Try listening to the Harold Melvin version and then see how poor the SR version was.

I very much doubt it if most people know who Simply Red are.

Not me. I'm allergic to chart music

Don't know if they are hated, but if ever there was a band with the dictionary definition of bland, then Simply Red would be it.

I doubt I'd know more than a handful of chart songs in the last decade but I still can't stand Simply Red. But then I'm a lifelong soul music obsessive so I absolutely hate bland watered down forms of the music I love being held up as something worth listening to.
They are musical wallpaper for lifts

I do listen to a fair bit of chart/pop music but I can't stand Simply Red. They are pure lift music and I'd rather stick hot pins in my eyes than listen to their music. Simply Beige or Simply Bland would be a better name for them. What exactly is the appeal of them?

Brilliant I would agree!
