Christmas songs
Can anyone recommend me some Christmas songs that aren't that well known, that are actually good?
Would love to listen to some different Christmas songs this year, from a range of different genres. |

I agree with AaronWx you should give Kelly's album a listen, some really good originals on there.
You should also check out Leona Lewis' "Christmas With Love", it has a few originals on there, including One More Sleep, which you may have heard last year, it was heavily played on radio. Both great Christmas albums imo. |

My five most favorite Christmas songs are "Fall Softly Snow" from Jim Ed Brown & Helen Cornelius, "What Do You See?" from Sonya Isaacs, "Only You Can Bring Me Cheer" from Alison Krauss, "Mary, Its Christmas" from Toby Keith, and "Go Tell It On The Mountain" from my most favorite singer James Otto.

Thea Gilmore's 'Strange communion' abum is great, especially 'That'll be Christmas'. I'd second the above recommendation of The Cocteau Twins 'Winter wonderland'/ 'Frosty the snowman' EP. If you want 'different', try Bob Dylan's 'Christmas of the heart' album - take it in the tongue in cheek spirit it was recorded and it's quite fun.
Kate Rusby has recorded a couple of nice Christmas albums 'Sweet bells' and 'Whilst mortals sleep' |

My absolute favourite Christmas albums are the two by The Carpenters. Christmas Portrait and Old Fashioned Christmas.
Not exactly unknown of course, but they are my first picks for any Christmas albums. I'd also recommend Leona Lewis' and Kelly Clarkson's Christmas albums from last year, although they have already been mentioned. Edit - I also discovered last year that Lady Antebellum have a Christmas album, On This Winter's Night. There's some lovely covers on there which I found provided some variety to the usual versions of certain Christmas songs. I had thought there were originals on there too but looking at the track list now it seems I was wrong. Still, I'd recommend a listen even if covers aren't necessarily what you're looking for! |

My brother bought me an album a couple of years ago that has now become a Christmas staple in our house.
It's really christmassy in a traditional sense and it's all original music written by the artist, John Rutter and performed by The Cambridge Singers. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00006JJ4...l_7kwxbvjzpx_e |
