I am not asking which show is best but what I am interested in is how many of you Strictly fans watch X Factor AS WELL AS Strictly?

I hardly ever watch X factor. I watched quite a bit of Leona Lewis's year and odds and sods from Alexander Burke's but that's about all. I have seen odd bits of audition shows in the intervening years but no live shows.

I tape both, always watch Strictly live if I can. I don't mind missing the odd X Factor, it's shockingly bad and mean-spirited this year.

Not me. Haven't watched TXF for years.

I used to half watch it when it was on in the gap between Strictly's main show and results show. Not my cup of tea at all.

I only watched X Factor one year when a friend of mine was taking part. No interest in it otherwise.

I'm an insomniac who has to put up with chronic pain & so I often watch XF when its on later on ITV2 as its something to do to take my mind off how rubbish I feel. Would not bother me if XF was to finish tomorrow though. It is well past its sell by date.

I watched the first series of XFactor but that was it. I've no intention of watching it again.

Strictly v X Factor

I gave up on the X-Factor years ago.

I've caught the odd episode of X Factor here and there over the years when round at friends' houses etc, but nothing I've seen has ever made me want to watch it regularly.

I watch Strictly live and record X Factor, far too many adverts. I've watched it pretty much every year since it started.

Last year I did watch it, but only on fast forward. I managed to condense what I actually wanted to see into about 20 minutes. I started to watch this year, but decided there really was no point in investing time in something I didn't want to see most of, so gave up about week 2 of auditions. I catch the odd couple of minutes before Downton if we watch that live, and that only reinforces the decision to not bother with it.

I watched the x factor when Matt Cardle on I love his voice. But not really since.

But I have to confess I saw some of it yesterday afternoon, when I went round to my neighbours house and thought alot of the contestant could not sing. If i have not gone round then I would not have seen the Script, which was a bonus for me.

I've watched xfactor every year since the start it's only the past three years I have really got into Strictly, now if they clash Strictly easily wins my viewing.

Are you going to start a similar thread on the X Factor forum. I would presume that the results would be the opposite.

What a co-incidence! I am EXACTLY the same apart from I missed the first year of X Factor.

I haven't watched X Factor since they had that awful Frankie bloke on years ago - I just lost all patience with it and haven't been back since. I keep saying I won't watch Strictly anymore but it seems to have some sort of pull on me because here I am yet again

Couldn't agree more! It used to be a show that found new talent but now its about sob stories, judges dresses, petty squabbles and media hype. Add to that the insane desire in me to throttle 3 of the 4 judges and I knew it was time to move away from the X Factor circus! Its my fear that if SCD doesnt listen to viewers comments, then they will go the same way

I watched a bit of two seasons of X factor because my boyfriend at the time' s mother liked it.

I've never watched it under my own volition.

I watch Strictly live on Saturday, then watch he XF repeat on Sunday afternoon.

XF is a shadow of its former self. It used to be entertaining but now it's all about the judges, and every other song seems to be slowed down to a funereal pace. I didn't think it was possible to turn Flashdance into a depressing dirge, but it is! The only laugh in this week's XF was contestant Stevie Richie murdering Music Of The Night!

I myself also do this & I agree with the points you have made.

Have never watched x factor or Britains got Issues.
Never will. Everything about the concept revolts me.

I used to always prefer X Factor. I initially naively thought that because Strictly was a ballroom contest that it wouldn't interest me. Then I watched it one year (the Tom Chambers, Rachel Stevens year) and really began to love it. Now I watch Strictly avidly every year. I still watch X Factor, but the blatant manipulation, terrible song choices and hyping of mediocrity really put me off it. I only started watching from the judges houses stage this year, and don't feel that I've missed anything.

So yes I watch both, but by far prefer Strictly. If X Factor was to be cancelled, I would be in no way disappointed.
