Please, please, please please please, kill off missy once and for all. This sex-change tosh looks like an attempt to kill off Doctor Who. Is Moffat related to Michael Grade?

It would be much better if missy was actually a robot and Chris Addison The Master, running things from the background.

A female Master ---- Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!
No-one hates the idea of a female Doctor more than me (I'll just stop watching if it ever happened) but I'm fine with a relatively intermittent figure like Missy being cast as a woman (especially as Michelle Gomez is such a terrific presence on screen).

So what's the general consensus on how people are going to refer to the character going forward? Especially if Michelle Gomez remains and doesn't regenerate at the end of 'Death in Heaven'

Missy, The Mistress or The Master?

The Master for me.
Oh it should be 'Missy', without doubt, IMO. The Master, as a title, is finished.

S8 should finish with a big bang. Would like to know why Missy is doing this. Is it just to torment the doctor?. Or does she just want to be queen of the underworld with an army of cybermen to serve her ?. Would love to see Clara confront her. "Give me back my boyfreind you evil cow!" followed by a smack to the face. Clara has threatened to slap 12 twice this series. Now she has someone who actually deserves it!.

Regarding the Death In Heaven trailer, who is the mystery man in the green outfit at point 0.36 through the sequences, it looks like a nurses uniform or ambulance man, is Danny Pink still living somewhere, I cant place who the receding grey haired man is, why include him?

No spoilers, but the BBC have just released Saturday's episode to online previewers and there are SEVEN specific plot points that reviewers have been asked not to mention (most weeks it's just one or at most two).

So I think it's fair to say that - not surprisingly given it's the last episode - viewers should expect some big shocks.

Why the sex change?
Wasn't Rani a Time Lady?

Why is everyone so obsessed with the Rani? Seriously. A genuine question.

'Critics' are watching today, it seems - ahead of tonight's screening (you have been warned!)

First reports in the tags.

Glad to see Osgood returning. Always thought she would make a good companion.

Just to add my Twitter review from @slouchingtv:

Spoiler

Yes, it's extended to an hour (actually, 56 minutes), but Moffat pays off every major thing he has set up this season.

That's very good to hear. The last few years have frequently had loose ends remaining unresolved, so it's encouraging that this year will be different.

I will be sad that the series will be over - but equally don't want to be too excited for the classic finale reset button.

I'm sure there will be things I've missed - and there is certainly one big question that has gone unresolved which I am certain is a hold-over for next season - but otherwise all the major questions I had were answered. I'm sure we'll find things to pick apart that we wish Moffat had answered - we're never 100% happy, are we?

Did anyone give any hints that Missy isn't The Master? I'm really hoping Missy is the real deal and they don't do some twist like making Seb The Master

I'm annoyed at how much traction Seb as the Master is getting. If there's any validity to it, I'll be the one sulking in the thread after air.

Don't mind a reset button, so long as it's used refreshingly
