I quite agree. I've been a very vocal critic of his on here and I absolutely loved it.

It's noticeable how the people crying it made no sense aren't expanding on that very much at all.

I loved it. I even thought Danny Pink was great. He became so much more alive after he'd died.

I hope she gets a big lead role after this. She'd be perfect playing someone like Jane Tennison.

I actually feel like Osgood is the worst character they could have done a Spooks-style sudden death with because her only previous appearance is in the 50th anniversary special which, due to it being, y'know, the 50th anniversary special, has extremely high rewatch value. It'll kind of detract from watching The Day of the Doctor now knowing that she gets suddenly and brutally offed by the Master later on.

Nor me, she was great...but then again, I do as that is what good drama is all about...not being afraid to kill off characters that people like for dramatic purposes.

Sorry but I thought that was shockin'. So disappointed after last week.

Missy was great but then just gets zapped. Oh well, bye then.
The big emotion re: Danny isn't very emotional because - uh, don't really care about Danny. Or Danny and Clara. No, not even with 'this is the emotional bit' music. And Rupert & Orson Pink? No, won't be explained, nothing to see here.

For me - a massive letdown.

Made sense to me. Missy had a bracelet that allowed her to travel between the Nethersphere and the real world. Danny had the bracelet and was able to use it one last time to bring the boy back.

Of course you didn't spend any time scratching your head in the 1970's, those were far simpler times. Perhaps you prefer it that way but a Sci Fi show that tries today to work for a 1970's audience wouldn't make it past the first series. We cannot have that back even if we want it. It also doesn't mean it wasn't full of plot holes and full of continuity errors, just that it was far simpler TV for a far more naïve and easy to please audience. I loved classic WHO and still love it as a nostalgic look into my childhood, but that doesn't mean I cannot accept that NU WHO is a different show for a far more sophisticated audience based on the exact same premise. It too has plot holes and continuity errors and loads of unanswered questions, but I don't think you can have Doctor Who without them.

In the context of what we saw in this episode, yes it does. It isn't real life you know.

Not in the slightest - even more poignant and that is the brutality of the Dr Who universe - no one is really safe.

I'll admit that Missys plan didn't make a lot of sense, how giving the Doctor an army to conquer the universe would help him save Earth was unclear.

But they resolved the soldier theme with Danny, the Brigadier and The Doctor in a very nice way.

Thought the bitter sweet parting between the Doctor and Clara very good as well...

Not bad 8/10 for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if none of them are dead. We had the episode in the bank where we thought certain characters had died and perhaps Missy's "gun" does the same thing.

I think Clara and Danny are probably coming back as well.

I agree for me she was the highlight of tonight really hope that's not the last we see of her. she really did scare me in that role tonight I never thought she would kill Osgood

Perhaps it was her zygon duplicate that was offed? Missy did keep saying that she smelt like a fish didn't she?

This is quite infuriating actually, he covered it up pretty well by using the line "the best thing about knowing is not telling you" line though so I will give him credit for that. Great delivery by Michelle Gomez as well.

I am just glad Danny Pink is dead. By far the worst character that has been on the show.

As for those saying Missy has just gone.....If I am not mistaken the Doctor adjusted settings prior to using the device. Not knowing what he did, it becomes impossible to suggest she has been zapped permanently.

It didn't make any sense! Alright tell us this...

Why could Danny Pink and Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart do what they wanted as Cybermen?

Why didn't The Master regenerate? After all he's a timelord.

How did the Master survive/escape in the first place?

Why did the bodyguards just stand there like idiots when Missy was counting down?

Those are just 4 questions I've thought quickly at the top of my head.

You have described my problems with the episode pretty well except that I actually like Clara (but found her a bit boring too).

Perhaps some were so busy bemoaning the lack of sense, they drowned out the explanation.

Missy and Danny both had the same idea about the Dr; that he was a Dictator-in-Waiting, who would be corruptible by the promise of ultimate power.

The Oncoming Storm perhaps..

But he's just a madman with a box, as we knew all along

there are degrees of fanboy/girl ism.

If you can see and admit to blatant flaws in an episode and overarching writing then you are not a strict fanboy/girl.

If Moffat can do no wrong then that is when fanboy/girl ism takes a turn for the worst


Explain these points.....

-How to Danny and Clara have kids now
-Why did Missy pick Clara
-Why can Cyber men now fly
-If (as fan theory is having it) Missy was teleported and not disintegrated, why did the Brig save her
-Can you take Santa Vs Aliens seriously (even given the tradition of slightly silly Xmas specials)

And one more point

"al those people suffering in Dalek camps, you can save them now"
Cybermen get trashed by Daleks... would not work even if the Doc was so inclined to try

I think the biggest shock was discovering that Cyber Danny's emotion on/off switch had not actually been turned off yet.
