Anyone know how to make icons smaller on the homepage? I also used to have more space for icons either side of the home button but now I'm limited to two either side? I'm sure Google now being enabled meant more space but that doesn't work now.

What I cannot fathom is after a "clean install" by flashing the image it remembers all of your apps etc?
Surely if it's a clean install this wouldn't be the case.

Data partitioning, you can update the Kernel and the Android stuff without touching the /usr or the folder data that you see, pictures, apps, settings.

How do you display how long it will take to fully charged? It randomly appears on the lock screen after a while of being locked.

It does seem to take a long time to be charged. Mine is estimating 4 hours! I'm using my Nexus 7 charging plug with a generic cable, but surely that wouldn't make a hugw difference?

When I force the lollipop update to download OTA it keeps saying "verification failed" even after a factory reset?

Anyone elses phone been rather battery hungry since updating?
There are probably a few apps that aren't working properly. Amazon has recently updated its app to work nicely on Android 5, but before that it was constantly shutting down, restarting and effectively in a loop that caused big problems.

I suspect there are going to be other bad apples causing problems, and as they get updated the problems will subside a little and the battery will improve.

I forced my upgrade through doing the google play service and framework trick, it took 2-3 attempt's.
"
For anyone who is still waiting on the ota update try this method and it will work! Go to settings apps all Google play services manage space clear data then go to Google Services framework clear data and force stop. Now go to about phone system updates (it should say last checked in 1969) check now keep refreshing and it should push the update to your phone if it doesn't work the first time keep trying."
That can and likely will cause all sorts of problems with your apps. Google has been saying for some time NOT to do that 'trick'.

but those who care enough could easily update it manually.
Only if they unlock the boot loader from what I've read. I don't root any more as the Barclays app (which I use a lot) won't work on rooted devices. Anyway, I got lollipop last night

Is there any way to switch to the "Material Dark" theme mentioned here?

https://developer.android.com/traini...ial/theme.html

I'd prefer it over all the whiteness in the default "light" theme.

only place i've seen that setting is within the keyboard settings.
and, obviously, it only affects the keyboard there.

no, they could use the OTA update file.
that doesn't require any unlocking of anything.

and even if you did the factory image route, which requires the bootloader to be unlocked during install, then you just re-lock it once complete.

i don't need to explain my understanding of them.
i know what they are.

if you don't understand them then i suggest you use google to read up on what those terms mean.
Wow, how helpful you are.... NOT.

i thought you knew it all, maybe not as much as you think, it would not hurt you to give him a bit of a idea.

Maybe he is better off using a search engine.

My overall impressions of Android 5.0 are not very good. I have it on My Nexus 7 and it just feels so slow the google browser seems to take an eternity to load up even thought i have nothing running in the background apps wise. Will not be downloading this on my nexus 4 until i really have to.

you mean chrome?
that's not actually part of lollipop. it's a separate app that can be updated out-with lollipop.
it just happens to be included in the lollipop image.

How do you put your phone on silent with notifications on screen but no vibrate?! It's driving me mad.

I just want it how it used to be. If I have a text, I want the icon in the top left corner instead of pop ups when I check the lock screen.

I did notice that the Mrs phone was a bit slower after doing the update but a day later it seems as fast as ever. Don't know if anyone else observed this?

Push one of the volume buttons, tap "None" and make sure "Indefinitely" is selected.

I don't understand the changes either.

Came across an in depth Android 5 review today whilst watching twit.tv from one of their regular presenters on the All About Android show;

There is no longer a silent mode. You have to turn the volume right down and select the 'none' profile, but then you don't get any notifications if you look at the lock screen

It's really frustrating

When you open your open apps(square button) is there a way to close them all at once or do they have to be swiped 1 at a time?

One at a time, for now. The option to clear all may appear at a later stage possibly, though I'm not sure really why you would need to clear them all away.
