I think we all know there are problems with it on some devices. Not 1 person on here is denying that. So i wish you would stop saying stupid things like that.

However, YOU are just ridiculous. All you do on here is bitch about how bad technology is, how bad any update is even though you haven't even laid eyes on it. It's becoming tiresome and very boring to the point i think most wish you would bugger off elsewhere.

Just got the update on my Nexus 4 and I must admit, I am very disappointed. Anyone help me out with the following:

- Official charger no longer seems to correctly charge the phone yet a cheapo USB lead I have at work does
- Whole experience feels sluggish
- Google Now doesn't work - just hangs at the search box when you open it
- I can't add the 4x4 My Library Google Play widget. When you add it, it just kicks you back to the widget screen
- Keep getting a Sync error for my Google account but only for certain areas: Calendar, Docs, Gmail, Google Play etc.

Any suggestions on the above?

with a nexus device you can easily revert back to any previous android build.”

I feel like I am hitting my head against a brick wall.
even if I reverted back to a previous android, what is there to stop me getting notifications about the next version of Android again?

I pick up my phone now, take it out of standby, drag down the notification bar and what is on there, system update available. I CAN NOT GET RID OF IT.

Typicle, so is the old app in the play store?

I like the old app, it done the job, I do nto want a different app with a ton of advertising on it, it was the same with SMS Apps, I tried a few, but always gone back to the original because it done the job well and don't flash advertising at me

But i like the original app. third party apps are full of advertising. i do nto mind it on some things, but not for email

i do dislike Google, I dislike their spying crap and wanting to know everything about everyone.

But the produce the best phone OS, oh tell a lie they did not produce Android, They nabbed it like they have nabbed most other things they have.

One day we will get a true open source OS, which will offer what people want, sadly it may be a while, so until then I have to cope with Android, but do it my way.

Do you really Think IOS and Windows are any different?

The nag to do the update it a major design problem imo.

There is a work around to not getting the notification but I'm pretty sire it needed a rooted device and involved disabling a certain process on start up in google services.

I had to do this on my old Nexus 7 2012 as one of my favourite sat nav apps broke on an update. When I eventually got a fix for the app that worked, I unrooted and did the update.

Yes its easy to flash back to a previous version of Android for tech people like me but not the average user. I mean not that many people would be familiar with how to get into the bootloader, fastboot and adb.

IIRC you can press and hold on the notification, tap App Info, then untick "Show Notifications to stop it showing notifications.

Works on most apps that badger you with updates (I'm looking at you Sony Update Centre).

Some third-party apps have ads (which on some are less than intrusive), some don't. And of those with ads, some allow you to upgrade to the Pro version without ads for a very small sum of money (£2.99 or less).

Try K-9 Mail for example - open source (therefore FREE) with NO ads

Quote:
“K-9 Mail is an open-source e-mail client with search, IMAP push email, multi-folder sync, flagging, filing, signatures, bcc-self, PGP, mail on SD & more!

K-9 supports IMAP, POP3 and Exchange 2003/2007 (with WebDAV).

K-9 is a community developed project. If you're interested in helping to make the best email client on Android even better, please join us! You can find our bugtracker, source code, mailing list and wiki at http://k9mail.googlecode.com.
We're always happy to welcome new developers, designers, documenters, bug triagers and friends.”

Kaiten Mail - free, with ads, based upon K-9 Mail.

Quote:
“★★★ Kaiten's origin ★★★

Kaiten is based on the popular open source app K-9 Mail and was built by K-9's lead developers Jesse and Chris. By buying Kaiten you not only get an awesome email client, you also support the open source version because almost all of the new features are contributed to K-9 Mail.”

Upgrade to the ad-free version for a one-off payment of £2,.99.

i am pretty sure flash back to the old version, I have never done it before, but it do nto seem that difficult. but then the same problem would come back

I will have a look and thanks, but that is not really the point, the email app that I use is ok, but then google wants us to stop using it.

I don't understand why the calendar is so poor. Week view now in landscape and no monthly view.

Another vote for K9.
Though I can see your frustration.

Im still trying to get used to the update that I got this morning and the minor problem I had after the update seems to have gone. I have now download the free Android quick start guide for 5.0 Lollypop.

As I posted this morning I had a minor problem with my Nexus 4 after I got the update this morning but the problem seems to have sorted itself this evening.
Im in no hurry for the update to come to the Nexus 7 if its doing what I been reading in this thread.

Finally got it on my N4 this evening. The update took about 45 minutes and it was initially unstable for a while but it has settled down now. It's going to take a while to get used to the new interface but it does look good so far.

It was something the same as you when it first arrived to my Nexus 4 this morning but all now seems to be mostly fine this evening.

Having problems on my Nexus 5 with this now with slowdown when unlocking and texting. It worked fine for the first few days.

I also hate the notifications clear that is fiddly to get too. Other than that it is ok but I'd prefer a dark theme. Everything is too white.

Sorry, I was not reading it right, I read it somehow to disable the notification app .

Anyway I looked at what you said, but it says the app is play services, I wonder what that would stop as well as the notification I want to get rid of. I still want notifications of my apps need to be updated,

The point is that, to coin a phrasde, we are where we are/ Things change, things have changed. People either accept the change or find another app that suits.

The whiteness of the app tray is my main annoyance too - especially since many app icons were designed for a black background - but I'm sure someone will come along with a fix fr that soon. The great thing about Android compared to Apple is that we aren't stuck with what we are given.

I wouldn't say I hate anything so far. It's more of a matter of getting used to the changes and waiting for the app designers to catch up with the new design.
