D'oh - yes, just spotted the Play Edition bit. Scrap my earlier comment (but keep it for when the standard M8 gets done!).

5.1 is available on my N7, strange as I do not have 5 on there, so it just jumping to 5.1.

It would do - no reason put 5 on it and then 5.1 later.

you mean 5.0.1, not 5.1

and 5.0.1 OTA update for Nexus 4 is now out.

Well spotted, so you can! Not exactly obvious though IMO.

No 5.0.1 for the Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 (2012) and still nothing for the mobile Nexus 7s.

What's taking so long?!

I suppose not. It does mean that they need to put two images out.

maybe it was 1.5, maybe it was 15, they have a 5 and 1 in them too......
come on, 5.0.1 has already been mentioned previously in this thread - you even commented about it when it was mentioned.

I got 5.01 on the Nexus 7 last night, it seems speedy I'm not a big fan of the smaller notification shade that only has 1 pull down now although using 2 fingers to swipe down brings the toggle buttons down (saves swiping twice).

I do really like the triangle circle and square buttons and generally it looks smarter and more polished. Not a massive amount of change, but it's nice to see a refresh on your devices once in a while, it makes it feel like you've upgraded even if it's only a bit of a change around.

I am going to use my excuse of being tired

Anyway, what is the difference between the two versions, I presume just bug fixes?

Given the 5.0.1 numbering, it will be relatively minor fixes (maybe some security patches). Where as 5.1 would be an all-new version, and quite significant!

the lock screen I am getting used to, I prefer it not to be there, is there anyway to get rid of it?.”

Have you had a look at the new Smart Unlock feature? It disables the lock when the phone is in a trusted location (such as at home) while keeping it active when you are out and about and more likely to lose it.

I find it works really well and is one of my favourite new Lollipop features.

Yeah i use this with my Samsung watch. Works great when the phone is in range of the watch.

Yup, having no need to unlock when in range of my Pebble watch is great, and on my Nexus 5 that I use mostly as a Satnav now, I can remove the lock whenever it's paired to the in-car Bluetooth.

It is not the lock that is a problem, I use pattern lock, it is the silly sliding screen that you have to slide to get to the unlock function. the slide screen serves no funtion waht soe ever. I do not have notifications on it.

Anyway, i do not have the location function on my phone switched on.

But thanks anyway

Not working so well on my Nexus 7, seems a bit slow and apps seems to crash.

it actually does serves a purpose.
it's stop the possibility of accidental passcode or patterns being attempted whilst a device is in your pocket or bag.
how pissed would you be if you took your device out your pocket only to find that you had accidentally been touching the screen and blocked the device due to entering the wrong code.

it's up the app developers to make sure they support lollipop and update accordingly.

that doesn't help if the app is already installed when you upgrade.

I updated today to Android 5.0.1 on my Nexus 5 by flashing the factory image. It is so much smoother and snappier than 5.0

But it can't do that, my phone screen is blank until I press the power switch. so i now press the power switch, slide the screen up and then unlock the phone.
Three actions just to use the thing. I managed without the slide screen before.

but the same apps work fine on the phone which have lollipop.
Saying that I been having problems with the nexus 7 before the update, it did get better after i cleared the cache, I will do a complete restore of the n7 and see if that will help.

That extra sliding screen is rather annoying isn't it? Never had a problem with the lock pattern being triggered before (you have to draw a line between 4 before it counts so is rather hard to do) and locking the screen unnecessary (probably because I've got a smart cover on my Nexus 7 - but even my previous Android phones without one don't have the issue).

Even worse is that I can no longer control the music player from the lock screen (I don't want notifications on it - just player control widgets).

I have noticed that it generally runs faster, but needs you to clear down the recent apps list more frequently than before to keep the responsiveness up.

The only App I've had crash on 5.0.1 is "EE TV" which doesn't even load
