Yes, it changes the homescreen, app drawer and icons. that was never in dispute. What i said is, update to lollipop, if you dont like it, stick nova back on and choose Kitkat. Pretty simple really isnt it?
”
you did not see the reason why I stuck Nova on my nexus, I told you why, simnple as that really.
I also said that Nova does not change eveything and will not change the whiteness of the settings and other screens, which is the main reason I do not like the look of Lollipop.
It is not the home screen i do nto like as I know I can change that, apart from the still new design of the notification bar. i also do not like the recent app screen either. it reminds me of Vista

“Right. So because 2 computers at your work running a decade plus old OS crash, that means every single computer in the world crashes?!! Look, every computer does NOT crash. ”
So you are saying there are computers that have never crashed in their working life? I do not believe that. i have a old windows 98 machine, it have been left on for years and I would say it is reliable and have not crashed, the last time maybe around 4 years ago.
True it is a old machine, I could say it have never crashed, but if have, even if it was four years back.
Even Mint on my laptop yesterday decided to freeze, I must admit I never known it do that before.
Maybe I should reword what I typed then, most computers crash, including mobile phones and games consoles as after all they are only computers.
I admit this desktop I am using now have been stable since i took the naff memory out, but it still have it fits now and again, certainly with Adobe crap.

“
So, it's fine then.”
Yep, apart from Adobe crap. Hoping to update it next year, been put on the back burner at the moment as not being at work will mean less money due to no over time, certainly over Christmas and I want to get a record deck first.
But hopefully I will get a nice 8 core AMD, a newer motherboard, larger SSD and a decent video card, and memory.

“No it's not too much hassle. It literally takes 5 mins tops to change it. 1 click of a .bat file and away you go.”
As i said, I will wait until my mate gets it on his phone as he have the same phone as me. I am in no rush.

“No, neither would anyone else as you would never ever let the internet kick off. Too much hassle for you.
”
Really? How wrong you are. I was online on my Amiga, before the internet really came about. I was using BBS pre 56k. It was much better when I got the courier mind you and got it updated to 56k.
I then again using the Amiga went onto the internet for a while using Demon, but at the time it was a bit naff, the BBS was better, so I went back to BBS.
I went back to the internet when I got my first PC, it had got better then, but still on dial up, it was a few years before broadband came about.
I was using the internet shared between two of us on a 56k modem. slow as hell, if I thought it was too much hassle i would have stopped there and then and not bother again.
I do think that somethings have gone a bit too far, like all the tracking, too much commercial crap on the net and now our government trying to control it. But living without the net would make things not as convenient as they are now, certainly now I can not get around so much
Paying bills would be a pain in the neck if I had to go to post office, council office (council tax), rent office, the old MEB shop to pay electric. that is what we had to do years ago.
Ok, some of my bills, energy, broadband and mobile phone is via direct debit, but my rent and council tax i pay online when it is due.
I can watch my netflix online, i would not be doing that if I did not have the internet.
So the internet is not too much hassle.

“Right, but the point is, your blaming Android for that.

Yes and no, do not change until all apps can work with the new system, but I do understand that the halifax app was faulty.

“And they are worthwhile. Faster boot times, faster app opening times etc....”
Never noticed it and as for boot times I do not normally turn my phone off, if I do i do not stand there waiting for it to boot up.
I do not think i am going to bother about a few milliseconds.

“And it will be fine on ART again. Thing that annoys me about you, is you nit pick at updates without first checking things out to see if there may be another cause.

Oh excuse me, I was in hospital at the time getting over a major op. i just wanted to see my bank accounts to make sure there was enough in the one account that my direct debits come out of and I could transfer money if need be. and the app failed.

“Well in fact, no it's not. If you want to come on here bleating about things, at least make sure you are armed with knowledge, and dont disagree when people know more than you.”
In fact it is enough. If i want to go more into it then I can do that, but I got the information I want.

“It's hard for anyone to understand since its clear you don't really have any knowledge at all what this update is about. You are more interested in it changing things which it does not. The look can be changed.
”
I think I understand what the update is about. google wants to give android a new look because Apple have done it with IOS and they dare not want to be behind. Also they need to bring out a new version that looks different so to keep the market fresh and people will say oh look a new version of Android.
If they was just interested in some security updates and making it a bit faster, they could do that without changing the look.
This is why they do these major updates, the same as MS, Apple and most other OS providers.
Apart from Linux as you have a choice of UI with that and some Linux UI have changed very little over the years.

Nah, I will stick to what I said, you are partly right

“What do you mean you shouldn't have too? So everyone should just stick with the old way because you don't like it as always? Its called giving people a choice which the vast majority take and are absolutely fine with..
”
Quote:
“No they don't think that! Again its giving people the choice who don't want to use Hangouts. You really do have an issue with this choice thing don't you?
”
Again you have got it wrong, i have nothing against giving people the choice. It is just that we are not asked if we want this app replaced with that app as default.
I use dolphin as my default browser, but when I updated to kitkat, it put chrome back as my default browser. If I update to Lollipop will I have to go through my phone and tablet putting stuff back to how I want them again?
Get fed up of companies thinking they know what I want.
Quote:
“LOLWUT?!!!
So, Google think they know what we want by giving us a choice in which one to use? You seriously are deluded!!
”
and one again you just do not get it and follow everyone else. Aw google give a nice new OS, we will use it because it is there, I do nto think it matters if it was a pile of crap, you would still use it.
Not saying it is a pile of crap, it may be the best thing since sliced bread, I doubt it, but it may be

“ARRRRRRGHHHHHH!!!!!!
More made up nonsense!!!

Then it proves that you do nto take any notice of the updates you have then. Because this have happened both on my tablet and on the phone.
I do not use Gmail, I got no need for Gmail for email as I have my own domain and email service, I do how ever use gmail to keep my contacts synced.
I use the bog standard email app on Android for email, on download of the new Gmail app, all my email accounts was connected to the new gmail app.
Even my next door neighbours tablet wanted to do the same thing, it wanted to put his hotmail in with the new Gmail app.
So it is not made up nonsense, maybe you should have a look yourself.
bollocks to it, you know I just can;'t be bothered anymore, just carry on being like sheep, lemmings, what ever you want
If you want to be hold by the balls by google or any other company that say jump and you say how high, then just carry on.
No wonder this country is so mucked up
No one have the guts to say no I will not do that.
