I wholeheartedly agree with both of these points. I thought both were strong contenders to win. I was particularly baffled when Simon sent Janet home, as she not only had talent (which he is not particularly not bothered about), but also looks, stage presence, and the (apparently) all-important marketability. And there were no other strong contenders among the Overs, in my view.

As to Lauren, I thought she was very good at first, but I have liked her less with each successive performance. Maybe she's just too young still, or maybe she's just not as good as I thought she was.

FGS, only in the UK could we think celebrating and being excited was a negative thing but then the GBP here hate nothing more than ambition and self confidence.

Lol maybe cheryl and simon will be 'pumping her' as much as possible because they understand what makes a good singer... who knows maybe you lot don't.

This is incredibly wrong. Just WRONG. She's got the most distinctive voice of all the remaining contestants aside from maybe andreas whos tone is just ugly.

I don't think she is that good, she is young so, she can be manipulated into what the want her to be, she is actually too full of herself, and it shows when she is called out in the result show. As for her having the only distinctive voice left in the contest, noway!!! There is no compassion in her voice, no charisma at all.

She is quite aggressive with it, not that it bothers me, but I do recall Hannah (last year) getting quite excited in this manner and being called out on it by a lot of people (I liked Hannah). But you're right, ambition and self confidence does seem to be frowned upon by quite a few in this country. I blame it on the bleak weather and consequent depletion of serotonin.

Yeah, she actually pushed Lola out the way on Sunday, and said "move baitch, I have better than you"

Really though, it only seems to be the girls on x factor that get a hard time, for, well everything they do, getting through to next week, or just breathing.

From what I have seen/read it is, double standards goes on as well, e.g with Lauren and Ben, who both celebrated getting through, but only Lauren get's called cocky, full of herself, ect.

It is certainly true

I remember Cher (not from this forum as i wasnt here) getting abuse for being arrogant when constantly being told she was the opposite. to me she didnt seem arrogant just her demeanor when singing gave that impression.

Ben has been celebrating just as much as Lauren yet he has received no abuse.

People trying to use it as another excuse to hate a young girl.

tell me why cant 17 year old girls be confident

How do you explain this thread then?

Honestly, every contestant gets a hard time on DS, regardless of their sex (or race). I don't ever remember anyone who was universally liked.

No jealousy.

She just is an average solo singer, she'd be better as the lead in a girl group - at least then she could hide her inability to dance behind other members...

I like Lauren but she just seems to be pushed into songs that she can't handle as well as expected. Her last two performances have been very poor and it will be interesting to see what song will be chosen for her this week. She's a potential winner but at the moment I can't see her doing well in the industry until she finds her feet.

You really need to look up the definition of "hate". The OP said nothing hateful. They're perfectly entitled to say they're not a huge fan of Lauren.

I've found that somebody always responds with a post like this to threads that happen to be a little criticial of their favourites. Lord knows why certain people even sign up to discussion forums if they insist on reacting with hostility whenever someone dares to share a different opinion.

I suggest you listen back to that flat screeching that was Let It Go in that case.

Strange definition of "beautiful"
