It's temporary but Chris Gascoyne said it's probably going to be years rather than months. I'll miss Chris but I won't miss Peter. Peter has been totally ruined by this affair and a break will be good for the character.

I'm guessing he won't get any better offers and he'll be back by late 2015

I'm guessing he will get offers - he's one of the best actors they've got. I read somewhere that he was tired of the negativity of playing Peter Barlow so he may want to do something different. I wish him well, whatever he does, but he will be a loss to the street.

The actor asked for yet another break from the programme. He is due to appear in pantomime soon, as is Marc Baylis.

So will I.

Chris is a fantastic actor, who will no doubt have lots of offers on the table. I look forward to his return to the cobbles.

I really hope that when they do bring him back, they'll give him better storylines instead of the same affairs/alcohol cycle.

...so do I.

I would love to see him return having been clean of booze for a good length of time and feeling better about himself, not with a personality transplant though, he would need to still make some bad choices and get into scrapes but no to any more affairs.

Missing Peter already

I think it would be natural for his character to disappear for a while

I think Chris Gascoyne will get plenty of good offers... He's an excellent actor, he has had huge storylines on CS over the last few years that have earned him a lot of appreciation. It must be a great time for him going back to the theatre and seeing more of his family but now would also be a good time for him to explore other on-screen roles (maybe TV dramas and films), if that's what he wants. If he does go back to Corrie, I don't think it will be before 2020.
