Just loaded it up in the on demand player, you get a free 1 month trial or the option to sign in. Plans start from £6 per month.

Does it offer digital surround sound?

(thinking of ditching my Lovefilm Bluray sub due to the high percentage of scratched and unplayable discs)

Delighted with Netflix on YouView, hope other VOD services will be added in the future, such as Prime Instant Video, Google Play etc.

I can't see BT being able to offer Netflix any cheaper than the already good value £5.99 a month the company themselves charge. I think their announcement of a tie-in with TV Entertainment next week will mainly focus on the convenience of the option of paying for Netflix, TV channels, broadband etc in the one bill for customers who haven't already signed up to Netflix pre-YouView.

That said, it'd be good if BT offered six months free Netflix like Virgin Media did recently. If they do, I'd have thought that'd be for new BT customers only though.

This is not for BT only youview box systems so this is not an new service from them alone. ..its an software update for all Youview boxes ... Humax emails have said today..
BT may offer various types of deals like virgin did for its new customers ....
But the free month deal is for everyone in the UK by Boxes TV'S laptops blue ray boxes.... So don't sign up yet

I see that nearly all the films on Netflix on Youview are in HD.

As expected, most of Netflixs content is available in HD

Just remember that the cheapest Netflix package does not provide HD, unless you are on a legacy package

Netflix works fine on Youview as I watched the Railway Man the other night with dad in the living room.
Turned out a good film.
