Am I being cynical or is this just another way of pimping american artists? Every single category is full of american nominees with a token british nominee. Totally ignoring what actually happens in European charts.
The biggest selling artists in France so far this year are all French, the 7th act is London Grammar - a British act. The biggest selling artists in Italy so far this year are all Italian, the 8th act is One Direction - a British act. The biggest selling artists in Spain so far this year are all Spanish, the 6th act is One Direction - a British act. *5th album is the Frozen Soundtrack The biggest selling artists in Holland so far this year is French, the 5th act is Bastille - a British act. The biggest selling artists in Portugal so far this year are all Portuguese, the 6th act is One Direction - a British act. The biggest selling artists in Austria so far this year are all Austrian, the 8th act is Abba - a Swedish act. The biggest selling artists in Poland so far this year are all Polish, the 6th act is Indila - a French act. Even in the UK you have to look to number 8 to find an American act - John Legend. MTV (or viacom) would have you believe the US rules the airwaves in Europe - well maybe it does because its music is on all radio and TV all the time - but people aren't buying it. It's a total con - it's one big advertisement. |

Annual shitfest hits my home city soon. Suppose it's worth money to the local economy.
