Lisa Riley - and Alijaz's choreography?
mimi dlc

There have been inevitable comparisons between Lisa Riley and Alison Hammond.

In my opinion, Lisa had a lot more stamina and better basic technique than Alison. But I think she was a little let down by rather repetitive "side by side" choreography.
Alijaz has done a good job with disgusing Alison's shortcomings- any opinions on how lisa would have coped as his partner?

We were only talking about this yesterday at a coffee morning. The dancers amongst us thought that Lisa was the better dancer. She was (then) smaller than Alison, so I suppose pound for pound and stone for stone they would be about equal?.

I think Alison has had more variety with Alijaz' choreography than I remember Lisa having - but Lisa did get to week 10(?) I think so didn't do too badly. Lisa was more able to use her feet than Alison seems to be able to do and I think that makes a big difference.

Lisa got to week 11 I think.

I think Lisa was the better dancer, but Alison has the less irritating personality. I also profoundly hope Alison has more taste than to subject us to the likes of this. Alison also doesn't give the judges a look that would curdle milk if they're less than complimentary.

Robin's choreography is pretty uninspiring so I think Lisa would have had more varied routines from Aljaz, but I'm not sure I'd want to inflict Lisa's personality on the poor chap. Despite some posters insisting that he must be appalled to find himself partnered with a fattie, he looks pretty happy to me.

Agreed. She does seem to be quite sensible when she hears commnts, both good and bad.

Lisa always gave the impression that she thought she was way, way above criticism. Totally lacking in grace and humility.

But, to be fair, Lisa would have won any gurning contest any week of the year.

For an actress her range of facial expressions was, and presumably remains, somewhat underwhelming.

Oh dear I did. Mind you, it made me feel a bit better about my flabby places and resolved to continue to keep them under wraps

I think that the Lisa comparisons are a bit unfair to Lisa.
She was a way better dancer than Allison was.
I also have to give robin a little credit. Granted he is not the MOST amazing choreographer BUT he did some of his best work with her.

The only similarities between Lisa and Allison is the fact that they are " large ladies " with " bubbly personalities " and that's where the comparison should stop imo.
I'm not a big fan of Lisa BUT she was way, way better than Allison. She actually could dance, had proper technique in the dances and I can't say the same for Allison.

The "training" videos have encourage us to think of them as similar

True and I find that a bit patronising tbh.

Is that they are both not good dancers, both overmarked by gushing judges, irritating to the max and quite frankly full of themselves.

Lisa is sylph-like compared to Alison who only does the one dance called the gurnalot OTT skip and front.

Robin's choreography for Lisa I think fell down in the Latin (cha cha aside) more than the ballroom. With the latter he really seemed to make an effort to make every dance have its own unique character, despite the difficulties presented by having Lisa in hold. The latin on the other hand was all indistinguishable side-by-side garbage after Week 1. I think it's too early to say with Aljaz regarding the choreography. Some of it has been good, some of it (*cough*TANGO*cough*) has been bobbins.

I don't know how Lisa would have got on with Aljaz - he and Alison seem to have a good working relationship because the latter doesn't take herself seriously, whereas Lisa very much did (for better or worse). But then Aljaz seems like he'd probably get on well with most people on the evidence of two series. He seems very very placid indeed.

Alijaz has been very creative with his choreography. Alison seems to always be her happy self - Lisa seemed to be a less happy person and playing a part more.

Lisa was the better dancer in terms of range of ability, but Alison looks like a more natural dancer to me.

I guess Alijaz would have choreographed more dancing and less role playing with Lisa.
