Just wondering if he has given any hints that he knew or shock that he didn't know ?

I don't think he said anything

Moist I know is before he said he would be willing to come back for a regeneration scene but to me that sounds like he didn't want to come back for a full story.

For all we know he could have done that to as it could be filmed in a different place and with CGI just make it look the same

Who cares? Simm was AWFUL!
Worst casting choice since Bonnie Langford.

"The End of Time" was almost unbearable every time he was on screen!
All that stuffing-his-face-with-chicken! Ugh!
Then cloning himself onto all humanity! As if one Simm weren't insufferable enough!

And every time I thought the little twerp was dead, they'd find some absurd way to bring him back!
When I saw his ring being retrieved at his funeral pyre, I was literally screaming at the TV "Nooooooo! Let him stay dead! Let him stay dead!"

Michele Gomez is so superior to Simm in every conceivable way.
'Dark Water' is the first episode with the Master/Mistress character I've ever enjoyed (in NuWho).
I'm astonished anyone would raise an eyebrow at Master = Missy.
Don't those people realise it means we'll never have to suffer Simm's wretched face again?!
We should be CELEBRATING!

He's been reported to say:

"Why don't we all sit around having a nice little chat where I explain all Moffat's plans...
I DON'T THINK!"

I hated Simm's Master so I'm just happy that version is gone.

A lot of Doctor Who is campy and ridiculous but entertaining, his Master was just annoying.

I could've written that myself. Simm was utterly, utterly dreadful!! OK, so perhaps that's how he was told to play the part but, god, it was unbearable. I cannot rewatch any of his episodes. Yes, as bad as Bonnie Langford, if not WORSE!

I liked him!

He was certainly better in my opinion than "giant ham, spends all his time talking to himself" Jacobi or "pantomime" Ainley

i hate, hate hate that style of 'in your face' acting though. Moriarty in 'Sherlock' was almost an exact duplicate, and I hated him too.

Remember, in End of Time, all those endless, ridiculous shots of Simm laughing like a maniac into the camera or eating a chicken. Oh christ, it was awful!! Or his dancing around in Last of the Time Lords.

Yeah, Ainsley was panto too but at least it was toned down. I liked Jacobi though.

You can't call Jacobi's performance "ham" and then praise Simm's.

If Jacobi was ham, Simm was the whole pig.

I could see very little difference at all between Simm as the Master and Simm as Moriarty.

Both made me want to throw something at the screen - hateful interpretations of both roles.

Simm was influenced by Russell to make the part more over the top. He himself may have interpreted the role differently.

I personally think Simms master was brilliant, but whatever you feel about his take on the role, its easy to see why the Op is curious. Even those who hated simms incarnation would surely like to see the regeneration scene for the sake of completism and seeing the character's first few moments as Missy. At very least I cant imagine anyone who would actually have a problem with seeing it. I sincerely hope we do, and if we do I think however good or bad the episode is it would likely be the highlight for me.

I think Simms and The Master are brilliant in Sound of Drums and Last of the Timelords. I still like the way it it was acted and written. For me the series 3 finale is a great Master story. So much goes right for him. For once isn't struggling to get his plans off the ground. He gets to be a right little Caligula.

Not so in The End of Time. The character really needed to be a straight-laced badass and not the frankly bizarre set up we got. The Master has his moments, mainly the quieter parts, but they were so few and far between the rest of it was just a mess. From the toe curling 'Master race' story to the equally toe curling post regeneration 'meat/gravy shenanigans. I think the character, his story and Simms performances in the 'wilder' parts were all ill conceived.

I would not have any objections if he popped up again though. Can't see it myself.

Oh god, I just had a flashback to Simm wearing a dress...

WTF were they thinking??

The forumming technology here is so obsolete. Where is the like/+1/upvote button?

You wrote that much better then I would have but that's what I think too. He was fine at first but it all went far too OTT in End of Time.
I also seem to be the only one not wildly impressed by Michelle Gomez and Missy as it seems to be more of the same. If, of course she really is him and there's not another twist coming.

There were some bits he was able to really get his teeth into, where he could be properly angry and savage, but with giggly insanity round the edges, that showed what his Master should really have been.

I don't think Michelle Gomez has that raw ferocity, but then I don't think it's going to be relevant to this storyline.

Simm wasn't Moriarty, Andrew Scott was and he doesn't even look like Simm.

As for Jacobi I would have liked to more of his Master

Well of course, if Gomez is an older incarnation of the Master, she might regenerate into Jacobi....

I liked Jacobi's turn as the Master, it was a more traditional Roger Delgado performance, where Simm was a little too manic for me. Gomez seems to be more in keeping with Jacobi and Delgado, which is good news.

Simm was probably told to make it manic in order to mirror Tennant's Doctor who could be a bit manic at times

Jacobi wasn't really the Master; just his human disguise. So I don' think he counts.

On Simm's second outing as the Master, a lot of people seem to be missing the point that the process of resurrection was faulty, hence his unbalanced behaviour, extreme need for food & his face periodically becoming a skull with eyeballs.
