Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to a brand-new show called The X Factor: Project Stars!
I know I mentioned on the Mix Factor final that I’d launch this next week, but I realized I might as well do it now and just extend the application window to suit my needs. Anyway, let’s get right down to business.
WHAT IS IT?
The X Factor: Project Stars is an X Factor forum game which, as the name might suggest, is a little different from other games. Many of these games are based solely on the live shows portion of the original format. That might work for them, but that’s not what I’m aiming for here. No, the aim of this game is to give players and voters alike an experience that is as close to the real thing as possible. Thus, not only will The X Factor: Project Stars include the live shows everyone loves, but a full-blown auditions process, a boot camp stage and judges’ houses too! Mind you, this isn’t exactly new, as it takes some inspiration from older games of mine such as The X Factor: Mix It Up! You could say that this is a spiritual successor of sorts.
THE FORMAT
Like I said, this game aims to simulate the full X Factor judging experience. The first two shows will be audition shows, where the four judges will be shown audition clips of X Factor contestants from the UK, USA and Australia from 2011 onwards. Here’s the interesting part, the contestants will be decided using an RNG rather than hand-picked. This means the judges might come face-to-face with live show acts we all love in the audition phase, but they could just as well face only horrific joke acts. Once the auditions are over, we head over to boot camp. Here, the judges will have to cut the acts down to 5 per category.
Once that’s done, they will each be assigned a category and will be joined by a guest mentor (another forum member) for the judges’ houses stage, where they will pick three acts each to mentor for the remainder of the series. The game then follows the same format as every other one out there, with a number of acts going each week until a winner is crowned – a true star.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
You might ask yourself: “why are you telling me all this?” Well, as this is a new game, I need four enthusiastic forum members to fill the empty seats on the judging panel. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be a part of The X Factor: Project Stars, please send me a PM containing your motivation behind your decision. That’s all I’m asking, so make it count. This isn’t on a first-come-first-served basis, I will pick the people whose applications I feel are the most promising. Don’t let this deter you though, I always aim to create interesting and diverse panels, not ones filled with four veterans with identical tastes in music.
Good luck everyone, I look forward to reading your applications.
