The Rani was created as a female adversary similar to the Master.

By making the Master female then for all intents and purposes Missy is the Rani. It is a way of having the Rani without having the Rani.

Even the plan seemed more like something the Rani would do than the Master would do.

I almost wish the Rani would come back so people would shut up about her for five minutes.

Cripes, some people are really having trouble accepting this, aren't they?


If you really think that then I suggest you go back and have a look at some of the old Pertwee stories. 'Master teams up with monsters to take over the Earth' was pretty much the regular template.

And go back and watch the Rani stories. The Rani wasn't evil like the Master, she was amoral. She didn't set out to do bad things, she just wanted to get on with science and damn the consequences.
