I am pretty sure she used that song with a celeb on DWTS a while ago.

Yes just now.

sacrilegious.

I came across a Latvia singer. Jenny May singing it. Pretty good diction. This could have been quite populist with its guitar riffs ideal for faffin abaht.

I like Connie Francis but her La Bamba is not one of my favourites. [Her Siboney OTOH is.]

I thought Connie's diction was like an Italian singing in Spanish and trying too hard and over doing the "Rs". And Wikipedia confirms that Connie was Italian American Francis = Franconero - Ferrari-di Vito.

yeah I know the Jenny May one - although sacrilegious my one is much nearer a samba and not bad to dance to

"Naff" often means "great to dance to in these dances". Probably all appropriate music is "naff". "Cool" stuff is designed to hip-hop to. Quite different dancing.

Everything that isn't hip-hop music isn't necessarily hip-op music.

That's the sixth Disney song used this year (eight including pro dances), if anyone's counting. Which nobody is.

Someone's a fan.

Think Simon has the best of the music, Frankie and Jake have good songs too, as does Sunetra, if the John Legend All of Me is the same as the classic standard.

Caroline, Mark and Pixie all have very twee numbers and Three Times a Lady is overused on Strictly. Use Somebody is a bit uninspiring for a Paso, which is a shame as it is a dance Steve really wanted to learn.

I suppose the same evil genius who came up with Alison as Catherine Earnshaw has handed us Judy and Anton Paso-ing to I Fought the Law. Got to hand it to them, this is the dance I am now most excited about.

Will Judy be dressed as a constable and Anton a thief in a white and black top and swag bag?

Love Jake's song. Both waltz choices are good. I had to check the Barry Manilow song and then realised I knew it but didn't know it's title! Not a Manilow fan at all but it's a lovely song. Fed up of rock songs for Pasos.

Just listened to the John Legend All of Me and it isn't a version of the songbook standard, it's a bloody dreadful, dreary, drippy dirge of a song. Now a foxtrot to the proper All of Me would have been good.

It makes for a very, very, very contemporary Foxtrot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S99TGqUQ9A8

It may be dirge, but it's popular dirge - it peaked charts-wise in April and is somehow at #4 seven months on!

Let's go back and consider the possibility of *anyone* being the mother of a British Wimbledon Champion....

they should rename the song "I fought Velour and Velour won...."

I like the song an whilst Maks danced well not my cup of tea for a foxtrot Im sure Brendan will do equally well but with a more traditional one but as you say it is more akin to contemporary to a foxtrot

With Alison, I wonder if there'll be a lot faffin' about as Len would say, like last time? When I described her entrance as resembling a white van being delivered on a car transporter.
(I can't help what it made me imagine). Maybe visions of Kate Bush were being suggested in fun, but they drew the line on putting her in the same red dress.

I wonder if the first half of the dance will be her arriving on a magic carpet, (guess more use for the more use for the car transporter).

I'd put money on there being a lot of fringing on her dress.

But she's a good sport, quite entertaining, but let's face it, given her size, it's "the wrong show for her."
She does look ridiculous on a dance floor.

Can't wait for Judy and Anton's Paso

I'm a bit disappointed with the song Steve is dancing to. I like the song a lot but it's not particularly appropriate for a Paso. A shame, he was particularly looking forward to doing the Paso and I think he could have really enjoyed performing an authentic one to nice dramatic music. Still, it could just about work and I hope he does well to give him a boost after last week.

There's actually a couple of tracks which sound suitable this week.

It makes a change to recognise most of the music for this week. I think I will put the 'cat out' while Anton and Judy murder the paso....lol

Ray Quinn's Dancing On Ice routine to Use Somebody was incredibly dynamic. If the music is used in the same way for Steve & Ola's Paso, it should be great!

Being large isn't a help, but I think she would look OK but for the costumes and characters they give her. Cathy was not really someone she could reasonably portray. She is hardly a consumptive waif. I guess Aljaz knows what she (and he) can do, but sometimes I think he could give her more to do.

That sounded hopeful, but I looked at it and don't see dramatic.

I think the band are going to have to get the drummer to put some emphasis into the song, to create some sharpness on the 4th beat. Give them something to hit a shape to.
There is going to be a slight Rumba feel to it methinks, but it might look OK if you are not desperate for a normal Paso Doble.
