Relieved to put this behind me and today my Three One Plan number ported over to Vodafone's Red Plus £20 deal. Now I get an indoors 4G signal without a Home Signal femtocell which only ever covered downstairs. Also got £89.88 credit for Netflix as an existing subscriber.

Had my doubts but getting the PAC code yesterday was the best thing Three have done for me.

I wonder if I've been stitched up by Three. Looking now on the My3 site and it shows my allowance (starts tomorrow) as unlimited data, unlimited texts, unlimited minutes.

If so, that would imply my change to the 600 minute plan at £20 isn't happening and I'm changing to the top plan as set on my letter, as if I didn't spend ages on the phone.

I have a reference number that was texted following my call, but don't have time to call up today and check. Nor do I really have time to waste on the phone at any time!

I hope other people who secured discounts actually get their new deals at the start of the next billing cycle...
My new plan starts in ten days. I was specifically told 12gb hotspot as I referred to the 20gb of tether-able data from Vodafone. It will be interesting to see what I get, all the plan for next month shows is ayce data and 600 mins.

If you were told 12GB and have it in your letter (I never got a letter) then you should be fine.

I just don't get why Three is even sticking to this story and wanting to check the call. Why would I even be offered 4GB anyway? It's not a plan Three offers.

What next? I find out that the unlimited texts don't apply to other networks? That I have to pay for voicemail? That I don't get 4G? That it excludes Feel at Home?

You sort of assume that the tariff you've asked for from their list of new plans is going to be the one you get, not a hybrid.

These are the plans they offer those being shunted off their current plan. 28 in total. http://www.three.co.uk/New_plans/Step2

Where is one with just 4GB Personal Hotspot?

Edit: Three's own price guide says this:

You can also use your data units to set up a personal hotspot if you want to connect more than one device to the Internet at once, when in the UK. You can use any or all of your allowance for this purpose, except if you have All-you-can-eat data, in which case (depending on when your contract started and which plan you’re on) you can use up to the following number of data units each month to create a personal hotspot:

15 July 2014 - 4 August 2015: 4GB
5 August 2015 - 17 November 2015: 8GB
18 November 2015 - 12GB

* Except if you signed up between these dates to our All-you-can-eat data, 200 minutes SIM plan, in which case you can use up to 4,096 (coverts to 4GB) data units
each month to create a personal hotspot.
So are they doing the 4GB because I originally signed up in 2013 (that's before their range for a start, and everyone would be before 18 November 2015).

And is it true that if you have AYCE data on the 200 minute plan, you only get 4GB tethering? That's not made very clear anywhere either.

What a total clusterf**k.

You missed off the * which is for the middle set of dates with regard to the 200 minute plan. So anyone who signed up to the 200 minute plan before the 17th of November gets a 4GB hotspot..

5 August 2015 – 17 November 2015 8,192 (converts on use to 8GB)*

Three can sort this and did for me so you just need to keep at them. As I posted earlier Three can apply what it calls an interim allowance prior to the new plan starting at the next bill to increase you tethering with 24 hours. This is then added to the 4GB of the incorrect plan and next bill period the new 12GB plan kicks in.

Here how it appears on my allowance screen

Can they give him 20GB tethering the next month to make up for being short this month?

The point that needs clarifying is when did Jon sign up for the new plan? If before 17th November then the 4GB is the correct allowance.

Looking back its pretty much a case of standard prices as offered to new signups or nothing.
When i mentioned that other people were getting discounts and reporting it online i was told that I shouldnt believe everything posted on-line.
So far i've filled in a complaint form and sent it off - no reply other than the standard we have received your complaint message

Not sure.

I got the allowance because the incorrect plan meant I didn't have the correct hotspot in month allowance. If his plan is sorted next billing period he will have the correct allowance so I would suspect Three wont.

There's probably more chance of getting the interim allowance this month but it also looks like his cost is wrong i.e. £30 v £20. I was billed the correct amount £17 but had the incorrect plan. Looking at the bill for the wrong plan that's only just available it says it's a 2011 plan !

In case you hadn't seen it (this thread is very long I know), you'll only get the best discount offers if you ask for your PAC / threaten to cancel and you end up talking to the retentions team. Sometimes you will need to have actually got your PAC and wait for them to call you back with an offer.

Don't forget you don't actually have to use a PAC - it will just expire after a month and you will carry on as if you had never asked for it so there is no risk asking for it even if you never intend to actually use it. It's not a case of them calling your bluff as once you have your PAC they have potentially lost their last chance to stop you leaving if you do decide to use it, so their retentions team are likely to call you up to try to entice you to stay with their best offer(s).

I got the new plan on 1st Feb 2016, but if they're going to go by when I originally signed up then it was 2013 which is before any of the dates (and that's because it was unlimited).

Suffice to say they didn't give me unlimited! If they did, I'd not complain!

I got the vodafone special £9 discount off the £29 plan too. especially odd when that plan was originally supposedly £30. Anyway though it's not as cheap as voda (with spotify etc) I've been happy with three - a lot happier than last time I was with voda. Unlim calls/mins/texts & 12GB tethering all showing correctly, in fact it updated pretty soon after I called. (day or two).

Hi guys, I'm also on the one plan expiring in about 3 weeks. I called them on 333 number I tried to ask and negotiate £20 AYCN data and calls but they refused. However when the guy asked me if I want PAC I was not sure if I'm doing right thing so I told him I will change my mind so everything stayed as it was. That was about 10 days ago. I think now I will ask for PAC and see what happens... Thank you for all info here so far, I let you know how it went.

You are asking difficult questions, they might just hope if they ignore you for long enough you will go away.

Out of interest, is this a long-term project to get people off the One Plan or is everyone going to be contacted soon?

I'm listed as being on the One Plan, with my minimum 12 month contract term having expired in December 2014, and haven't heard anything about any changes.

Same here with mine expiring 6 months before that, but we'll be contacted at some point.

My minimum term ended Feb 2014 and I got my letter in January 2016.

I seem to recall reading something a while ago that Three wanted to move all from the One Plan at some point in 2016. I don't know how true that it but I think last 24 months One Plan contracts sold will also reach minimum term by mid 2016.

I'm still on the one plan, contract ended in late 2014. No letter yet.

I wonder if they're re-thinking their approach given the recent poor PR? (maybe they could just remove the unlimited tethering?)

No, they're still sending letters out. People got more last week and no doubt more got them this week.

And it's all legacy plans, albeit the majority being One Plan. There's no real logic to the order, as my wife hasn't had her letter and many One Plan users remain - while some people on cheaper plans with no tethering have been moved (or will be).

I think Three will press on regardless. The belief being that people will eventually forget (certainly the media will).

They've just called and their IT department still can't track down the call, so they're asking for another week and reminded me they have until March 25th to resolve the issue!!

Looking at my bill, now I can actually see a breakdown, they've got a weird way of managing things as it appears that one of the discounts is actually a charge!
