That appears to be a data only deal for tablets & dongles.
You can pop a data sim in a smartphone which work as well as in a tablet or dongle.

I’ve used a Three data sim in a nokia asha 300 phone.

He did say Data only sim in his post.
Not much use for a user who has been kicked off the One Plan though is it?

It's spreading to other tariffs now as well, at least 3 people on moneysavingexpert have had the letters while being £12.90 AYCE tariff customers.

I wonder how those customers were in this minority who were 'abusing' tethering?
I was on the £12.90 AYCE tariff and didn't tether once in three years... And I got 'the letter'.

Thanks very much.

How long does this discount last for?

Is it a recurring half price.

I do find it interesting that the same few posters are just repeatedly going on and on about this despite there being no new news. For someone who joined 6 weeks ago and wouldn't have been on the forum throughout all the stuff I posted and things which are being referred to in your posts.

I find it odd that you're posting so frequently now (many times a day) yet have frequent in-depth knowledge of what was and wasn't said prior to you joining.
I didn't refer to any individual poster there, in fact it was just a general "users" that I said as I've seen this abuser line by more than one person and not even just in this thread or forum. Just so you know, it is allowed in the forum rules to be allowed to go back and read previous pages of a thread, it isn't the case that I'm only allowed to read the last 6 weeks of the thread and no more. I've read almost the whole thread already.

Also, I'm sure it's not in the rules that you are superior or allowed to make an issue of how senior you are because you've been a member longer, it doesnt make for much of a welcome when someone like you gets all snotty because a new member dares to get involved in a discussion. I would think any old or current three customer has a right to be in the discussion about how crappy three has become and what they are doing to their customers.

Am I wrong or am I right?

If you use a VoIP number you can, I’ve done it in the past with a Sipgate landline number using the Android app CSipSimple.

Works quite well but incoming calls can get lost in the system sometimes but that might just be the way I had Sipgate set up to ring on several devises with the likes of phone, tablet and a real phone at home.

Don't use it on my mobile much these days because the savings on national calls compared to Three 3-2-1 sim is only pennies anyway but good for using on a tablet with no GSM.

I wouldn't worry about it. Some posters get awfully defensive of certain networks and 3 is no exception.

Not sure if it's been posted or already mentioned but there's a SIMO sale for existing customers.

AYCE, 200 mins, 12 months - £18.

Not had time to look into the small print regarding texts & tethering but maybe useful for negotiations.

http://www.three.co.uk/existing_cust...ype=SIM%20Only

Received my letter yesterday and immediately called for my PAC but due to data usage will probably have to move to the £20 AYCE plan but will see how/if things proceed.
What their web-site says about this deal - "Save 24 - over the contract length" - so if you don't renegotiate after, you will pay 42 after 1 year...
Also you can get 2000 Minutes to 3 network if you call 333...

There is an app called Aznog that allows you to make free calls on the phone with the data sim in.

Plus you can also download an SMS app called MightyText on 2 devices where they sync with each other, and you can send texts from the phone you have the data sim in, with any texts you receive being displayed on the phone you have the data sim in.

Depends on individual requirements, but Its worked for me. I'll stick the £15 / 25GB sim in the Data position of my dual sim phone, and a Giff Gaff Sim in the 2G position with a £5 Goodybag, Total £20 per month for 25GB of tetherable data and 100 mins / 300 texts which is more than enough for my occasional / emergency use. In the unlikely event I need more minutes i'll just choose the higher goodybag accordingly.

For me, its a great deal and far better and more generous than anything Three can offer given 90%+ of my data use is tethered.

I got another letter from Three, so maybe it's all back up in the air!

No sooner did I think everything was sorted, but this letter arrived;

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jzj3yrh73w...r2016.jpg?dl=0

Clearly confirming that they messed up a LOT of accounts, although in my case I was being charged £30 not £25, but nothing surprises me anymore.

What worries me is that after supposedly resolving this issue last week, I now run a risk of them 'correcting' my bill next month - overriding things and shoving me back on the £30 plan.. and leading to another letter, long phone call and stress.

I hope Three thinks it is all worth it in the end. What's especially nice is how it says I was being undercharged, but they've kindly fixed it..! That's the sort of stuff banks put in letters when announcing the wonderful low interest rates when writing to savers...
That is awful! But I'm not surprised, 3UK CS have managed to screw up my payment method and all, so last month's bill wasn't taken out, so was told that it was combined with this month's bill and that I needed to pay it or else my services would be restricted; so naturally paid it over IVR first then got through to the god awful Indian call centre to find out what happened, only to be told, I shouldn't have paid my bill and that I should have spoken to them first -- well, sooorry! I wasn't told that in any communication, only was told to pay right away due to some error on the payment method I had selected.

At the end of the contract period, I'm considering leaving 3UK, they're a pain in the backside, signal is none existent in some coastal areas I visit anyway, I may go with Giffgaff with their £20pm sim only deal, if it still exists by then.

Fairly ancient by todays' standards but still going strong, its a Chinese Cubot GT-99 which I bought Three years ago for under £100.

There are newer 4G phones, such as the Cubot X15 which cost around £110 and will actually allow 2G / 3G / 4G to be used from both Sim locations if required (The GT-99 will only run 3G from one sim location and 2G from the other)

I've been meaning to upgrade to the X15 for a while, however the reluctance of EE to bring 4G to the Towns I visit / work in means upgrading to a handset purely to get 4G compatibility would be a pointless expense , especially as the GT99 is still running flawlessly, and its dual sim configuration is fully compatible with what I need at the moment for Data and Calls from two different networks.

I received the letter during the week, I've been expecting it for ages. Anyhow I also had the text offering the £20 plan for £18. When I spoke to customer services this morning, the guy looked into it for me and said that under the offer, they issue a new sim and number and I couldn't take my number with me (no reason why could be given by him). This offer apparently is to try and get existing customers to take out a second plan for family members etc or start again on an old contract phone.
I made it clear, calmly I'll add, that I'd had my number for over ten years and wasn't going to change it. He put me on hold to speak to his "manager", came back with the £28 monthly 600 min, AYE data plus 12GB tether and AYE texts for £17! I have accepted that, would have been foolish not to.
So I'm now not tied to a 12mth contract, free to move if a better contract comes up elsewhere and only paying only £2 a month more than my One contract and not the £30 they said Would suit me best!!

Yes 333, I have to say the guy was very helpful, not what I was expecting!

Finally I have found a great alternative to Three's One Plan! It's with BT, and includes 20Gig of mobile data, unlimited calls and texts - but the real kicker is free access to BTWifi Hotspots, which I can receive at home so no need for tethering or an internet package. The great thing about BT is that they use EE masts, which means great coverage!

All for £21 per month.

Three were changing my place to £30. I had a nightmare with today when asking for my PAC code. They were really trying every trick in the book to persuade me from going - was on the phone for nearly an hour!

Off I go to BT on Thursday!

Just been offered 3 deals without much haggling. Just told the first guy I didn't care why they were changing prices and got passed through for a PAC, then got offered these:

1. 4GB Data AYCE Minutes + Texts £9 12 month Contract
2. 8GB Data AYCE Minutes + Texts £13 1 month rolling contract
3. AYCE everything £20 12 month contract

As I only ever use 2-4gb a month I went with option 2, which is saving me £2 a month and I'm not tied into anything long term so can jump on a good deal when I want.

They tried to trick me earlier. Told them I wanted to leave but not be pushed onto an expensive plan during the notice period. The three guy said no problem sir, I will move you to 14.99 plan until you leave. It was only with more questioning that he revealed the new plan was on a 12/month contract! Scum.

I have (or pay for) 5 accounts with three on the one plan. 4 of the basic ones and 1 on the tethering plan. I've started getting letters through offering 200 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data for £20 (including £3 discount). I might downgrade one or two to a non AYCE data plan as two users really don't need it, but I still think £20 is a pretty good deal.

Just one caveat to remember - no tethering. WHich may be absolutely fine for you. It was what ruled it out for me. Though I don't often use it there's the odd day I want to work from somewhere with no wifi where it's invaluable.

My one plan deal ( really heavily used, 2000 mins unltd texts and data - all heavily used) ran out last November. I left the d/debit going so am presuming its now on a rolling monthly renewal. 3 have rang me twice but I didnt answer them anyway. I'm still using my phone and SIM card and internet ( 8gbs a week of data, or more, usually ) and tethering as before. I've checked the monthly bill and it's £34 which is what its been for the contract and since November, the same monthly amount. I'm quite happy for this to continue but am wondering what will happen eventually?

Once you're beyond minimum term and Three wants to vary your terms i.e. move you to a new plan it will send a letter detailing the changes, date the change will come in to effect and the new monthly cost. The letter serves as notice required to vary your contract terms and the changes will happen by default.

If you ignore the letter you will simply move to the new plan on the date stated and you are need to take action if you wish to prevent this.
