I was a £12.90/month customer - 200/AYCE texts/AYCE data and got the letter.

I read jon morris's article and a few of the posts and phoned the number and got the usual treatment from a customer advisor, then an "alleged" customer relations manager, after some more negotiation I managed to escalate the issue to the Glasgow Executive Office.

The guy on the other end couldn't of been more helpful, in the end I'm happy with the network, everything has it quirks and I managed to get -- £21/month 600 mins/AYCE texts/AYCE data on a 12 month term which I'm happy with.

I know people have done better but I've had a good run since 2013, I'm a big fan of "Feel at Home" (as much as it's crippled) and use it a lot as they cover the countries I need, the 12GB hotspot is a further bonus.

I wish all the other users as much luck with their changeovers. If anything remain patient, polite and keep pushing.

I went for the BT £21 offer in the end as I didn't want to spend any time trying to get the £20 deal from Three considering every agent seems to have a different tariff on offer.

It's such a shame that they do not allow tethering. It would not make any difference to them how to use the 20gb.

How do they know if one is tethering if I used a desktop mobile internet browser?

I think they offer such a high allowance because they're banking on people not consuming it all on a handset only.

That said, had anyone ever confirmed if they have any form of detection in operation?

It's just my opinion but I suspect that it boils down to the Fact that EE wouldn't like them offering tethering, given they use EE 's network, I reckon EE want to keep tethering ability unique to their own tariffs.

The same way that ID Mobile is not able to offer / encourage tethering on its Network - which runs on '3'

It could equally be that the MVNOs mentioned here are paying a price per MB of data consumed, so they'll be trying to target users who aren't especially heavy. Tethering might be possible, but they just don't want to appeal to those looking specifically for tethering due to the costs.

Doubt it. It's usually stock android devices first. Others can take ages.

I don't have the G4, but I thought Marshmallow did roll out last year http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-g4-...-across-europe

So it is plausible that the carriers are now pushing it out if the above is correct.

It will be interesting to know how many ex/soon to be ex one plan customers have just accepted the £30/month deal as per the letter, how many have left, and how many have had the will/pateince to go through the customer support battle of the wills to get a better deal

Once you're beyond minimum term and Three wants to vary your terms i.e. move you to a new plan it will send a letter detailing the changes, date the change will come in to effect and the new monthly cost. The letter serves as notice required to vary your contract terms and the changes will happen by default.

If you ignore the letter you will simply move to the new plan on the date stated and you are need to take action if you wish to prevent this.
Ok ; thanks for the info- I'll wait for a letter then

How come France Free Telecom offer 50GB of data for less than 15 quid per month (and presumably many other mobile telecoms in France and in the whole of the rest of the Europe competitively priced with them), yet here in the UK, apart from Three’s AYCE data we can only get less than half as much data on offer from other uk mobile operators for getting on for well in excess of double that price?

http://mobile.free.fr

A good reason for voting to stay in the EU because anybody can sign up to a contract with France Free Telecom next year without the worry of paying extortionate roaming charges using your mobile in the EU.

Do the EU roaming changes apply to inclusive allowances too? I thought it was just that the roaming had to cost the same as the out of bundle price.

I'm also not convinced that most operators are going to let foreigners sign up to get long term roaming. I'd also not have to get my friends to pay international rates to ring or text me. I'll stick with the UK SIM.

With an incredible amount of politeness and patience.

You just have to sit through the tricks, dodging, the script, even out and out lies.

At this point I got moved onto a manager and I still wasn't happy and insisted I speak to the Glasgow team and I got a call back the next day.

They "listened" to my call so I'm glad I remained polite, kind and patient.

Good luck toofast.

At midnight tonight I will find out if Three has finally put me on the right plan and adjusted my account to refund me what I was overcharged.

Anyone want to place bets?

I'm pretty sure you've misinterpreted what's happening next year. Yes, roaming charges are being abolished, but it doesn't mean you'll be able to apply for contracts in any of the 28 EU nations. You firstly have to be credit checked. Your credit history doesn't transfer across the EU. As for staying in the EU, getting the country back and becoming a sovereign nation again ranks higher then cheap roaming for gods sake.

If we weren't sovereign, we wouldn't be allowed to leave the EU. The fact that we can decide to leave proves that we are sovereign and can choose our destiny. But this is best left for the politics forum.

When 75% of our laws are made in Brussels we are not sovereign. But as you say, that's for the politics forum.

I called into the Three shop today as my plan is fizzling out in April. I thought that with minimal use of the phone they might forget I was there

No such luck. So went for the £20 unlimited data and texts, 200 Minutes. But be warned, the plans are going up £3 at the end of this month so glad I did call in.

I'm happy with what i manage to get from Three, however if they are putting up their prices they need to have the network with good indoor penetration, and very good coverage ( plus 2G fall back) and customer support based in the same country as the customers to back it.
People don't mind paying less if the network is cuntting a few corners, however if you pay more you expect more
