Only for a standard SIM, not micro or nano. I've never been totally successful trying to cut a SIM down - others may have been.

I was initially offered 4gb data and unlim calls and texts for £14 a month when I called. I rejected this since my average data is 5gb usage, but has peaked at 8-10gb at times. In tne end I was offered the above 12gb plan for £17, but with 2000 extra 3 to 3 mins bundled in (which are worthless to me but hey ho).

I spoke to Three today and got the 4GB offer, tried to haggle but they said it was a better deal than new customers would get (which it is, as I understand it). Decided to accept because it will save me money on my previous tariff and as it's a rolling monthly plan I can still cancel if it's not enough.

The main priority was to avoid paying more than I was already, so from that point-of-view I'm pleased.

I was booted last month, and got the AYCE data + 12GB tethering + AYCE mins/texts for £20 on a 12 month contract - which seemed their best offer so I accepted. I occasionally tethered more than that on The One Plan so when I saw the 30GB tethering allowance last week I called back up.

Pretty efficient call, they moved me on to AYCE data + 30GB tethering + AYCE mins/texts for £23 month for the remainder of the 12 months.

£8 a month more than they were getting but that seems fair if I get a few years out of them before they bump me off!

How long does it take to get a PAC from Three?

I received my letter today, so phoned them and asked for PAC and after ignoring my request 7 times and trying the hard sell the adviser then put me on hold for 10 mins and when he came back, rather abruptly told me I'd receive a text with the PAC and hung up...

Doesn't matter. Just received it via text.

My wife had to call twice and got passed all over the place by Three, always being asked why she was going. She then said she had a better deal, and was asked again.

She was told Three can't issue a PAC code until they've entered on the system why someone is going, yet they won't seemingly accept a simple 'Because I want to leave, please just give me my PAC code now and that's it'.

But after asking around midday, she got the code around 4pm and we went to an EE store at 5, got a new SIM and the number transferred by 11am today! Pretty impressive in the end.

My Stepfather had a letter through yesterday telling him that his '3' contract (600 mins / unltd texts / 1GB ) was going up in price from £10 / month to £14 / month but that they would give him a £3 / month discount making the new price £11 / month.

I found him a better deal for his needs with Life Mobile, who are currently offering 1000 mins / 5000 texts and 1GB data for £7.45 per month on the same 30 day rolling contract, so Three are losing another customer.

He doesn't send texts and uses very little data, but the extra 400 mins per month are a huge bonus for him.

From what it sounds and my own experience,Three are desperately trying to hold back to customers.

It took me more than an hour with 2 advisors to finally get my PAC code.

Given that's not a legacy tariff, I assume that increase is the annual increase in line with inflation, which Three was so against and advertised as such - before U turning.

Thing is, they couldn't possibly increase his plan by that much so it sounds like they're somehow trying to fool people into thinking there was some huge rise, but hey they'll reduce the impact because they like you.

They're choosing to put up the prices, but like their script on kicking off users from legacy plans they make it sound like they had no choice.

Perhaps the best way to deal with this is to say you already have a new contract. Or point out they are legally bound to give you the PAC and they don't you will report them to Ofcom.

They must know they can't refuse to issue a PAC (except for very limited circumstances) so why say they can't proceed until they've asked a load of questions when it is none of their business why someone wants their code?

By all means ask once, but then that's it.

They probably have retention targets. That doesn't excuse them making people wait for a hour though.

That's a good deal & in line with the 30GB (all tetherable) + AYCE mins/texts for £20/month on a 12 month deal that they offered me without any need to get stroppy & request my PAC. I have had the One Plan for over five years & my peak usage was 20-25GB in a month when I was without broadband for 3 weeks.

I signed up for the One Plan in the first couple of months it was available & thought it was a good deal at £25/month.

The Mrs was on a tariff with 600 minutes and she had an unlimited data add-on of some kind too. Think she was paying £14pm.

She received a letter yesterday saying that her tariff had been ended and they were moving her to the 1Gb tariff for £11, which isn't enough data for her. She's had that before and almost always hits the cap. She's switched to a employee offer with another provide now which runs on EE.

I've got an unlimited data tariff, I pay £15 per month for it. So far I've had no letter.

So is it the add-ons that have been ceased then? I just don't understand why I'm ok to stay on my tariff but she isn't. It'll take more for me to leave Three as I find Feel at Home particularly useful. We have used it a lot over the last few years.

Supposedly letters are coming out to everyone. It's just the luck of the draw as to when you get yours.

Letters to some 1.2 million people on legacy plans (assuming they don't upgrade before they get the letter). I was surprised to hear that some people on post 2013 tariffs are being told of increases beyond inflation, and then told they'll get a discount.

I am not sure Ofcom would like a network saying 'Hey, we need to put your bill up by £50 a month, but as we're nice, we'll give you a £49 loyalty discount' instead of just saying it's going up by £1 a month in the first place!

But nothing surprises me about the way Three does things.

I got my letter last week. I'm on a 30 day, £12 p/m contract with AYCE data, 200 minutes and 5000 text messages.

They are moving me to a £23 p/m deal with AYCE data, and 200 minutes and AYCE texts but also giving me a £3 "loyalty discount". In reality 500 texts was AYCE anyway as I could never get through them all!!

I'm not particularly happy with the £8 price increase for not much extra "freebies" but I can't find anything comparable from either Three or any other providers. The £16 EE "existing customer" deal seems like the closest to what I currently have, but not being an existing EE customer means I'm not eligible.

Anyone got any better deals out of Three, or any tips for negotiating a better deal with them?

I think this is the hard reality: they know that even with jacking your price up £8, you're still getting the best deal in the marketplace. So they're not fussed about doing you a better deal..

So, can someone explain to me how this EE 16GB tariff is listed as being £11.49 via this lot?

They're factoring in the £102 cashback spread over the 12 months minimum as an £8.50/month discount off the £19.99 monthly cost, giving an equivalent monthly cost of £11.49 for the first 12 months.

Not a bad deal.
