Ugh! So I now don't know what to do. Do I go with EE, who I know are good around here and have that mammoth 4G network? Or do I dive into the unknown and give a rapidly improving Vodafone a go?

Anybody here use Vodafone in South Wales? Specifically Cardiff, Cwmbran, and the Valleys?
Will you feel sad if you've gone for EE and 6 months into your 12 month contract Vodafone have caught up? I'd wager that you probably wouldn't... so, EE?

From the details page on the plan:
"On our All-you-can-eat data plans, you can use up to 30GB of your data each month to create a Personal Hotspot within the UK. "
After reading this, I was furious. I felt it's really unfair that depending on when people get the letter, different people can end up with difference packages. So myself, since I got the letter in Jan/Feb, I'm stuck with a £25 pm deal (with 600mins) with a 12GB Personal Hotspot tethering, while anyone get a letter in Mar/Apr, those customers, can get £25 pm deal (with 600 mins) with a 30GB Personal Hotspot tethering.

So, I rang through to 3 Customer Services and of course, the Tier 1 CS Support (Indian Call Centre) try to brush me off and that really ticked me off, they were dismissive; finally got through to Complaints in good old Glasgow. Spoke to Ashley and she was super nice, understood why I was angry and so, she offered me same deal for the same price - £25pm deal (with 600 mins) with 30GB Personal Hotspot tethering, without putting me on a new 12 month contract. Now it will take into effect at the start of the new billing month cycle, so will see if it will change then, if not, it will be another call.

On new connections I presume? I've just activated the Netflix option on my account and got the £89.88 credit added to a Netflix account.

If you don't mind changing your number each time could you in theory keep on getting Netflix, Now TV or Spotify free every time you cancel your contract and join again or does it not work that way?

Sure you could. When my VF SIM is out of contract in September/October I'll probably give notice and reconnect. The number isn't important to me as I divert calls.

Even if the number was important it's easy enough to port out and back.

Are there any reasonable offers if you don't want to sign up for 12 months?

Hopefully SIM only will continue to be competitive in the future, although who knows if Three will remain so with gradual price hikes instead of the types of promotions we've seen from VF and EE of late.

The world has gone mad when the two EU premium networks are doing more to innovate.

Didn't get the letter but got a text on Wednesday saying they were moving me onto a new price plan. Called up today wondering which plan they were putting me on he couldn't answer and telling me price plans that je would pit me on were either £3 more expensive than what's advertised or the same price and telling me it's not available for new customers because I'm.a loyal customer. I told him I'm looking at the sim only process on my computer and they are either more expensive or the same price, what's loyal about that.. 12 years on being on Three and they ditch customers like we are nothing.. He tried saying he would add 3000 3 to 3 minutes but no thanks I got.my Pac code and will be fully transferring my number to BT Mobile who are giving me unlimited minutes texts and 20GB data for £16 per month. I will be switching my.dad, 2 brothers my sister and mother to BT mobile whomsaod they would give the deal.to them also. This was only when I mentioned Three One Plan to them that they gave that deal. Good luck to 3 in the future and if you can't even get MBNL masts for 3 customer to connect to in London then you will shortly lose customers like me a 12 year loyal customer. I recommend BT Mobile to anyone on Three it's £25 per month for unlimited texts and calls and 20GB data or £16 per month if you have BT broadband and calls with them. To add to that I also said goodbye to sky for they broadband and talk because BT was over the 12 months much cheaper than sky even with the loyalty discount.

Not sure if anyone saw someone contact me on Twitter today because the team in Glasgow told him categorically that nobody can get a discount and that it's just crazy rumours spreading around the Internet that are not true!

This was Glasgow, not India!

I sent a copy of a letter confirming a discount to him, so wonder what they'll tell him when he presents it. Perhaps claim it's a forgery?

After the messing about from 3 (alleged) customer services, I ordered the EE 16GB Sim Only plan, and once the SIM arrives I will be using my PAC code.
I'm very disappointed - I would have thought they would be trying to retain customers, not drive them away!

I am sure a fair percentage of people would get the letter, not pay too much attention, or if they did just think 'oh well, I had a good run' and accept the switch - irrespective of the fact that everyone on the One Plan is told the best match is the AYCE data/mins/text plan, when of course it might not be.

In fact, now the 30GB plan might be better suited, or the 12GB plan. Some people were on the One Plan because of the price and the fact it offered more (off net) minutes than plans at the time.

Now you can have unlimited minutes on plans with less data, why should Three assume we all wanted to go on the top plan?

Statistically, for all the moaners on social media and going to the media, I reckon a sizeable percentage just took the increase on the chin.

I notice that bt's cheapest deal is now £20

I've been on 600 mins, 1GB data and 5000txts for £15.90 including an AYCE data add on.
Have just got my PAC code from 3, and been offered a data the same deal but with 4gb of data for £13 a month. I know this is a good deal, and often my data usage is well within that, but, for a few months of the year I go over 4gb, and I like the peace of mind that I can use my phone as I like.

I've asked if they can do a deal on the 8gb data but no joy. They were very polite, and very apologetic, and even raised a 'complaint', registering that I'm not happy with the reduction in data, which I didn't ask them to do.
I can't fault their customer service, but someone somewhere at 3 has made a monumental error in driving away long standing customers. Why not let us keep what we already have, and then we won't leave!

Raising a complaint seems the only way you can speak to the Glasgow team, that might give you what you want.

How do I get through to them? I've been sent a complaint log number.

If you didn't get transferred at the time, they'll likely call you.

I raised a complaint, and was called back twice but never from Glasgow - just Mumbai!

According to the Glasgow team, they aren't given authority to do discounts on accounts in India. They can only offer current promotions (like the free 3to3 minutes you've probably been offered via My3) and nothing else.

So you need to keep trying. Or just leave.

Yep, I'm sure of that. Those on who take an interest in these things on forums, or on social media, or who just follow such things in the news sometimes assume everyone else is too. Lots of people have busy lives doing other things and aren't that interested in such matters, and a fair few just find the whole issue of mobile contracts one of beguiling complexity so have little desire to open the Pandora's box and peek inside.

That said I'm sure it'll damage their perception of the brand... the friendly, good value, challenger network has ramped up the prices and now looks a lot like all the rest of them.

I envy that some people here can switch to EE or BT Mobile, I would love to do that one day. However, as my daily commute is so long and I live in NI where infrastructure is just well... crap. The only thing to keep my sanity intact during commute is watching Netflix, so I can easily go over 30GB per month. Last month, I even manage to use up to 42GB! Which for now ThreeUK are ok with (I guess). Plus, I do pop over to Republic of Ireland on a whim. However should ThreeUK crack down on data and reduce it to a max of 20GB per month to match other providers; I would cry, because it may force GiffGaff to respond the same way.

My wife had no desire to suffer what I did trying to get a discount (which I did, but didn't happen) so she asked for the PAC code straight off. I wonder how many did that?

The timing of the EE offer helped, as I suspect the Vodafone offer before did to others. Vodafone was particularly brazen in its marketing, specifically aiming it's £20 deal to aggrieved Three users!

I think a lot of people stayed and a lot left. Far fewer attempted to negotiate, although given the popularity of my article about it (and regular comments even now as new people get letters) I do hope a lot of people did at least learn that they can negotiate, if they've got the time.

I did for one, I didn't even bother to ring them or answer their calls after i'd written to them giving notice, life is too short and i've much better things to do, than plead for better offers and then wait whilst they dip into the lucky dip to see which random offer i'll be given today, if any!.

Getting speeds from '3' of barely 0.3mbps - 0.4mbps was bad enough for £15 a month, but i'm sure as hell not paying £30 for what has become a crappy service especially as Cheshire doesn't seem to feature highly on their 4G roll out priorities either.

I took the option of an EE 25GB MBB sim when it was on offer for £15 a month and chucked it into the Data position on my dual sim phone, i've also recently signed up for a Life Mobile Sim £4.95 / month for 600 mins / 5000 texts which is more than enough for my limited / Emergency use in the sim 2 position. Total, just under £20 / month for 25GB of Data all of which can be tethered. Plus EE has 4G in half of the places I visit as opposed to 3 which doesn't have 4G in any of them!.

Both are on 30 day contacts, so if a better handset sim offer comes along for a similar monthly price as i'm paying now, I can give notice and leave. The EE 16GB / £20 offer came close, but the 9GB extra data per month that i'm getting currently for the same price using the two sim method is of more use to me than unlimited calls and texts.
