Three will not benefit if customers vote with their feet. Most deserters will and up at EE...
I mean, come on, why would you consider Vodafone or O2 where decent data speeds are almost something of a surprise to the usual disappointment or the 'why the hell am I on GPRS or EDGE?' in the middle of a town. Only EE offers a comparable 3G service, on account of MBNL, even if I still find 3G speeds usually behind Three, and a superior 4G service with higher speeds attainable in double speed areas - and that's even before faster speeds start coming online in 2015. EE is generally more expensive, without things like Feel at Home, and there's no AYCE option at all - for any money. However, I think that as time goes on, EE is gradually reducing its charges and/or increasing data allowances. At some point, a lot more people will find a level that they're happy with, and Three will begin to have more of a battle on its hands. Today I'd still say Three is way out ahead in terms of value, and 3G service (as I said, 3G data on EE can often be poor for whatever reason) but a lot can happen in the next 12-18 months. In the next two years or so, I'd also imagine both O2 and Vodafone will have, finally, caught up for the most part - having rolled out 4G that also means 3G (and 2G) will be brought up to spec. I'd say that in the next two years there's everything to play for, including bidding for new spectrum as it becomes available, and users would be silly to remain loyal to any one network. I'll always be sticking to SIM only contracts to give myself the best savings, and never signing for longer than 12 months precisely because I want to have the upper hand! |

They can maintain an unlimited package by restricting connections based on usage of each user, high usage users could be targeted more heavily during peak times, I think Three should go beyond that of BT landline ISP's.
Do you have a source for those figures regarding FTTC cabinet dedicated bandwidth? |

AYCE Minutes, AYCE Texts, AYCE Data.
4GB Tethering Free 0800 calls Feel At Home. £15pm. Why would you move before the text? Just stay on the one plan until you're asked to move off. Or just move over to the plan above by calling the 0800 number. At £15 that is an absolute bargain. If they offer you a worse deal then you have now, then leave. |

Just of the phone to the 0800 number, all they would offer me is All you can eat everything for £25 per month on a 12 month contract - mentioned i know others being offered the £15 deal and wouldn't budge so gave me my PAC code.
Im guessing there must be certain criteria and for what ever reason i don't fit into that! |

I've just had exactly the same conversation £25 for all you can eat, or £20 with 4GB of data. Both with a 12 month contract and no negotiation!

From what I understand they aren't safe as Three are not allowing loyalty discounts anymore, those callers who think they have a £10 discount may well get another call asking them to choose another price plan without a discount or agree to pay the proper price for the new plans. I've accepted the £15 AYCE plan with 200 minutes, with a zero commitment so if I do find better value elsewhere in the future I can leave pretty quick. |

No one replied to my previous post on the last page but until they contact me I'm going to do nothing. I'm not calling them.

If you ignore them they will eventually phone you, if you ignore their calls they will write to you and give you a date they will chage you onto a new price plan that they feel is the nearest to your recent usage. You will be moved onto a new price plan sometime in January, should you be unhappy with the new price plan at that stage, you will need to call them and give them your 30 days notice to terminate your contract. |

The All In One 15 PAYG currently offers AYCE data and 300 mins plus calls over allowance are only 3p. So unless you officially need 4GB tethering at the mo that's a much better value option IMO. That's assuming Three doesn't change its PAYG offerings which it may given it's track record of appearing to let things slip on it's website to spread rumours... I've already got my PAC so looks like I'll be moving to EE assuming it meets my expectation during a trial on PAYG. |

I phoned the 0800 number (before getting the text) out of curiosity, with all this talk of people being offered no discounts/price increase- and Three supposedly withdrawing the loyalty discounts. I'm currently on the One plan for £15 per month (I mainly use handset data, and rarely tether)
The agent offered 600 mins/AYCE data for £13 p/m or AYCE mins/data for £18 on 12 month contract- which seem to be the monthly cost minus £10? I asked about the £15 deal others are getting for AYCE bundle- but he said no-one was being offered this anymore! I went with the £13 option, as I don't use many mins anymore. I was advised it would stay at this price until I upgraded or changed plans- I'm sure I heard a similar story from Three in the past! ![]() Hope this helps with other negotiations. |

No, I think it's more likely that those people got through early before the rules were properly in place.

Lol - Once out of minimum term who knows what Three will do now it's set a precedent. I sure would believe anything it claims given the comments from those who've accepted poorer deals because there is no discount period ! Out of curiosity how much data do you consume ? |

You don't have to, that's why they have given themselves 60 days for the process.

You will be moved onto a new price plan sometime in January, should you be unhappy with the new price plan at that stage, you will need to call them and give them your 30 days notice to terminate your contract. I'd also imagine Three will look at your account history, including spend and length of time with them. For me that's not great as it was only last September or so, and mostly just £15 a month. Not a massive revenue generator. But Three possibly won't know how many PAYG SIMs I have with varying levels of credit, including two mobile broadband SIMs I've spent quite a bit on over the years. Most are registered at the same address so maybe they will spot this, but not necessarily (data protection etc). |

The AYCE plan is £25 on a 12 month so a £10 discount would get you £15. The 600 min 12 month plan is £20 so £10 discount would get you £10. So looks like you're being offered £7 off for tying yourself for 12 months.

Out of curiosity how much data do you consume ? ![]() I normally use between 2.5GB and 5GB purely on the handset. Only ever used tethering up to about 1GB when on holiday. |

the so called loyalty discounts should stay on customers accounts (by definition) if they accept new terms with three

That's what Three offered me but I use more minutes and at 35p per minute over allowance it would cost me an extra £210 based on my current months calls. I won't pay £28 so that's that.

An AYCE data package on PAYG is one thing that 3 must maintain to keep customers who do not wish to tie up their debit card to a contract.

Three don't have to maintain anything, PAYG customers are generally on the decline for all networks. They'll keep PAYG but I wouldn't expect them to keep the same plans and unlimited data on PAYG plans at the same price. With the rises in data use I'd expect some price increases or plan changes at some point.

We have to bear in mind the changes in data usage in the last few years, I think I said this before... we shouldn't expect 2012 / 2013 prices to continue going into 2015 with such massive increases in data usage that have happened in the last few years.
That PAYG plan is now incredibly cheap for unlimited data and Three won't want contract customers being tempted to PAYG for a better deal as they lose the guaranteed revenue that contract customer / sim only customers give them and the stability to forecast financially, that is why they tend to offer contract deals at slightly lower prices. |

So far no call /text from Three.
Currently on one plan sIm only £15 usually use less than 4GB of tethering ( although can go over this on the odd occasion ) If forced to move and I cant get AYCE Data/500+mins+plenty of SMS within £3 of the current price then I will be off to PAYG . The loss of tethering will be a nuisance as I will have to rely on Wifi (fon ) and Dongles. Having a look at EE they are charging £31 for 10GB data (unlimited calls/texts) and £25 for the same but with 5GB of data Vodafone are significantly pricier, O2 are not just pricier but the data is somewhat lacking. |

Can somebody PM me the 0800 number if they have it handy, please? It seems the forum mod morons have been as unhelpful as they possibly can be by removing it.

I certainly don't want to tie my bank card up to a mobile contract either. |

On a 12 month option the EE 10GB plan works out at £22.15 pm over the year factoring £70 quidco cashback. That offers 6GB more tethering per month than Three but data is capped at 10GB total. In gereral 4G coverage should also be be much better than Three.
Double speed as well. |
