You can get 500 minutes, 1000 texts & unlimited data on Now Mobile for just £15 a month.
Quite a tempting offer for £15...
Without any tethering, it's a no-go for me, but I can see its appeal.

They do say no tethering + commercial use and if they suspect you of doing the above or negatively impacting the network they reserve the right to cut you off/suspend service.
Ah, the Giffgaff approach. Don't give a limit, so let the weather decide what is a lot of data from one day to the next....

NOW Mobile has such an awful website, I can't see how I'd ever be tempted to try them.

Tethering works absolutely fine but you must maintain 50p minimum credit for the unlimited internet to work off bundle.

So are you saying tethering is unlimited on NOW Mobile?

If the T&Cs don't allow tethering, nobody can moan if they then get cut off!

Its not actively blocked. Its against the T&C though.

Only Three and GiffGaff actively block tethering.

No doubt NOW Mobile will go the way of every mvno that offered unlimited data. It'll be capped or people will be kicked off for using too much. Even giffgaff start kicking people off once they use over 10GB

Also isnt now mobile 3G only?

But you can't use EE's more extensive 4G network with this particular MVNO?

At least I can use 3's 4G network as it eventually grows

Anyone thinking of going with 3 because of the 'free 4G' I wouldn't bother, it's almost slow as their 3G, well it is in London anyway. I get about 9 mbps on 3g and about the same on 4g maybe 10 mbps. Pointless. And I can't get it at home in Ealing despite being on the coverage checker.
Got 2.2 on 4G in west London today and 13 on 3G.

At the moment no AFAIK but who knows what may be offered in future. In town Three's 4G has slower d/l speed that its 3G and often pretty slow.

How is that a "better deal"!?

Three offers that for £28 a month on a 1 month plan... and you'd get 4GB of Tethering with Three.

No contract and no termination period for £2 extra.

And anyone who Tethers regularly is gonna eat through 4gb in no time.

Like someone else said it's not actively blocked and tethering seems to work fine with no problems. It's a risk of course because it's against the T&Cs but Now Mobile are either turning a blind eye to it or aren't bothered about tethering detection measures.

Now Mobile uses EE's 2G & 3G networks ONLY no 4G.
The DC-HSDPA network is still super fast in most places though

Exactly.

I've turned off LTE on my iPhone because its so flaky. Maybe it will be better on EE, but on Three I have been less than impressed.

Thanks for the clarification.

With Virgin Mobile due to launch 4G in the first half of 2015 It'll be interesting to see if Now Mobile do the same and keep their unlimited plan.

Of course, it isn't just those people who are being affected.
I'm sure it was you I replied to a few days ago saying that there is a massive difference between someone using 100GB and someone using 10GB of tethering. Yet both are going to be just as badly affected by this really. I get the need to limit tethering. I have no problem with that. But 4GB does seem very low.
And then you also have those who don't even tether but will have to pay a fair bit more because the "equivalent" tariff is now a fair bit more expensive.
Just think far back to school days, working now, or any walk of life. When people abuse a system everyone suffers. It's the old 'hammer to crack a nut' syndrome. Like it or not that's what those in charge always have and always will do.

It's no good blaming Three, the real villains are those that have gorged themselves silly.

Gorged themselves silly? Three sold a package with unlimited data (including tethering ) and people used it as sold.

They did not sell the package as a replacement for home broadband which is what people used it for.

It also very bad consumer practice to force customers off contracts

Rid the abusers but average customers?

I've never heard or experienced this from any service provider

Indeed if you offer it you can't blame the customer for using it to the maximum possible to their requirements even if it does badly impact on the network for other much lighter data users.

I don't see the heavy data and tethering use as deliberate abuse of the network.

Unlimited data and unlimited tethering with no restrictions is what 3 offered.

3 have suddenly now come to realise they made a big mistake offering the unlimited tethering among the AYCE sim only plan.

As the unlimited tethering unrestricted along with the unlimited data was considerably cheaper and more convenient than signing up to a fixed line wifi broadband inevitably people were attracted to 3's offering. Of course 3's sim only plan may have been the only option that met people's home internet requirements as poor credit rating stops them taking out fixed line broadband altogether.
