Highly unlikely, Hutchison don't really need the money. It's far more likely to see Hutchison buying than selling.

Just to move this back on topic - just called retentions and cancelled my One Plan sim. Asked for it to be moved to PAYG. Offered nothing more than what was offered on the website... Declined the offer and it all goes PAYG on Christmas Day lol
Only reason I'm not leaving altogether for Now PAYG is the In Touch app and the fact it's more reputable... Not bothered about the 4G aspect (as I've documented previously) |

Are EE dangling the carrot
offering 100Gb per month for 2 months for free http://shop.ee.co.uk/campaigns/dan-and-phil Then move you over to a suitable tariff. 2 months just long enough to get people to switch and move their number, give their notice to three and settle down with EE. Three for me provided flexibility (no data caps, perhaps once or twice a year i go over 4gb because i can), and cheap prices. Within my usage patterns EE can offer me what i need, a second line for the wife at £12.99 is also a much better deal. I will have to sacrifice that flexibility on the odd occasion i use more data but three are no longer cheap so whats the point in staying. I'd also rather not pay money to a company who plays games like this with loyal customers. If i used obscene amounts of data then i would but i don't. I use between 2 and 4gb p/m. EE also seem to be first with technological advancements and better high speed coverage. Hopefully during my 2 months of free data i will see how they perform. |

I'm switching to them anyway as any allowance is applicable when tethering too, but this is a good way of trying them for a couple of months. Agree with your view on Three. I hope many follow us and Three get taught a valuable lesson. |

The terms state that you need to insert the SIM into your phone within 14 days of receiving it and that the 100GB free data starts as soon as you use data. The part which is unclear is whether or not you use data just by inserting the SIM into your phone and activating it or is it only when you start browsing the internet, using apps etc... |

Maybe BT told 3 to take the heat from the people whose contracts will be affected/removed, as they didn't want to have to do it as the new owners? Hope it never happens. In the takeovers usually that the customers who were with the pre-taken over company end up suffering with a far worse deal. |

BT will never buy 3 - 3 might buy O2 though.

They will recommend a more suitable PAYG tariff by e-mail or text just before the 2 months ends. They have this offer of 4G phones cheaper in conjunction with the 2 month 100gb data per month sim. But for those who really want or need a new phone, the best advice is to buy a sim free phone elsewhere rather than with EE as it will likely be locked to the EE network. |

So far the only text from three is the one telling me my e-bill ( for £15 ) is ready - one plan rolls round and lives another month to the 26th of December

No-one from three has confirmed that. 60 days notice is given from the day they text you. The people who were text on 5th Nov would have until 5th Jan for example...

Some background to the end of The One Plan claiming it's being driven by Three's parent Hutchison putting pressure on Three to deliver higher revenues which is causing tension. Quote:
Three is radically overhauling its sales commission and ditching The One Plan tariff. http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/news/in...-one-plan.aspx
The news closely follows the departure of Three’s award-winning retail director Jacqueline Kelleher (JK), whose role was made redundant this month. Industry sources say the changes are part of a wider restructuring, driven by Three’s parent company Hutchison Whampoa, which they claim is putting Three’s management team under mounting pressure to deliver higher revenues. Three’s commission structure overhaul will focus on customer care rather than sales volume. It will be rolled out early next year, following staff consultation. The operator is also terminating hundreds of legacy tariffs including the popular One Plan and all unlimited tethering plans. Customers have 60 days to move to a new plan or leave. Those that don’t respond will be moved onto a Sim plan that can be cancelled without penalty. Three will refocus on promoting newer tariffs that include 4G at no premium, roaming at no extra cost and free 0800 numbers. The changes are creating tension at Three, sources claim. One said: ‘There is an atmosphere of fear at Three and there has been for some time, with a turf war going on between sales and marketing. Both are under increasing pressure to deliver. Unfortunately, Jacqueline Kelleher was a victim of that war.’ Retail staff are said to be unhappy with changes to commissions, said to be the most generous in the industry. They fear it will result in a fall in income. Retail staff are also said to be demoralised by JK’s departure, with many threatening to follow her if she surfaces in another retail role. One retail source said: ‘The view is that with JK gone and the commissions set to change there is no reason now to stay loyal to Three...’ |

Just an update guys.,
I received my text on 5th November and ignored them since, as I was waiting for them to contact me or send me a letter of confirmation. The Indian call centre called me other day and the guy I spoke to was very polite and helpful trying to flog me 200 minutes, unlimited text & data and 4gb hotspot for £15! and telling me how great the offer was that I would get 0800 etc free but then I told him I get 0800 numbers free at home anyway and I would not pay more or same for less that I was not happy with his offer. I told him I could not justify paying same for much limited package and I would be considering either going PAYG or moving to other network then he went on to say other network deals are not as good as Three’s offer etc until he realised I was not budging and I had no intention of accepting his offer Then volla! He suddenly he offered me AYCE minutes / AYCE text / AYCE handset data and 4gb hotspot for the same amount of £15! Needless to say I have accepted his offer and I have checked my 3 app which confirms I have the AYCE everything from my next billing date. Although I am not 100% happy that unlimited tethering has gone, I did not tether much anyway but it was good to know that it was there if and when needed, I guess this was inevitable as the mobile networks not built to replace home broadband. I guess at some stage something has to give and the customer and the company must compromise. In my case, as everyone else, I have lost the unlimited tethering but gained unlimited minutes. My suggestion to everyone who is about to contact them or to be contacted by them, be prepared to haggle and threaten to leave if what they offer is not a good value and make your point. They will try to make you pay more for less but I refused to accept it on principle and cut a much better deal. I hope you can all get the same deal as well, don’t give up, and don’t pay more for less fight for the consumer power

I can easily get around this by simply downloading whatever I want to watch on wifi for later, so not a huge loss. Like you I rarely use tethering - must have used around 1Gb in the past six months, if even that! Its good to know its there if I want to use it as I can simply take my work laptop with me when out and about and tether whereever i am rather than rush back home to connect to wifi. I hope I get offered a similar deal to you, but its not a huge loss to me if I lose Three - the reception is patchy at best here and inside buildings you can forget it unless on the top floor! The only question is ... what are the alternatives? 2Gb min data, fast speeds, tathering - a bonus. at £15 this AYCE deal is hard to beat for value. |

I would count yourself lucky to have this pleasing outcome.
For me the offer was accept our new tariffs or leave. I didn't accept that the increased cost was fair and so my PAC code was sent to me by text message. For me no amount of civil bartering could gain me anything. I'm now just sitting tight and waiting to see if three change their mind or other networks have any offers in the new year. |

japauls post just confirms what I said originally..it was a financial decision.
I will be leaving once they kick me off just to stick the boot and recommending others do the same and go with EE, I will also be trying their 2 month 4G over xmas and if it's good, I'll be looking at their 25GB SIM and 100GB later if I can afford it. |
