Three phases out "The One Plan" and Unlimited tethering

I'm out with Three tonight for drinks (for their exclusive release of the Honor 6+) and I think some people who are bragging about tethering millions of gigs a month might soon be disappointed.

I'll leave it at that for now!

I'm quite interested to hear what Three's new plans will be with this phone, will we see O2 refresh style plans I wonder.

I also wonder why the phone did not go on sale at Amazon like earlier promised?

Jabbamk1 had said Three plan on doing O2 Refresh plans some time ago but like so many of Three's plans its been kicked into the long grass. The last tariff refresh was about a year ago with the new Plans with tethering limits and free 0800 calls etc. Typically networks do this once a year usually in the spring. I think Vodafone and O2 have done that this year with EE doing it next month?? My One Plan expires at the end of this month so im holding tight.

I wouldn't be too surprised when unofficial news doesn't happen, after all there are always lots of things talked about internally that aren't announced and then subject to change.

I won't be too surprised if the O2 refresh plans don't happen either, but the honor 6+ is meant to be getting some sort of exclusive plan isn't it?

When you get people openly boasting about connecting their entire household to a tethered handset just because they can, it's no small wonder Three will do all they can to shut it down.

Any info going to be available about the exact model Honor 6 (will we actually see a dual sim 3G/4G handset as some people think) or price plan going to come out?

There isn't a special tariff with the Honor 6+ as was rumoured. It's merely an exclusive with Three. Even the Cat 6 option appears to be a setting that is disabled by default (disclaimer: I was using a Chinese model).

It's dual SIM. 4G and 2G. One SIM socket is dual SIM/memory card so it's one or the other.

Three will be talking to the press in a couple of weeks to talk about future roll out plans. I hope to be there and maybe find out about the 800MHz rollout and VoLTE.

What is the point in a second sim slot from any point of view for the networks, you wouldn't have 2 of the same network's sim in.

The point was that Three don't have a 2G network (yet) making the other SIM slot particularly useless.

What's the point of the second slot if one of the sims is Three? You can't run the Three sim on 2G so it's a bit pointless having it, you swap the data to the other sim and the Three sim stops working.

Fair point, but I guess you can buy a SIM for roaming and use THAT on 2G. Or so I assume Three hopes. Ultimately, you'll use what benefits you. If roaming, you could probably use a 2G network on Three, and 3G for a local SIM (data).

Chances are you'll use the slot for a memory card in any case.

Looks a decent phone and im tempted instead of an iPhone. It wont be getting the awful android 5 I hope as that is truely one shocking os for a phone. It has ruined my nexus, slow and regular crashes.

Android 5.0 should never have been released in its buggy mess. I ran both developer previews and it was clear it needed more work however the official release was more or less just the second preview. 5.1 in my experience has been much better, although I haven't spent much time with it as I currently run cyanogenmod nightlies.

Without a railcard your ticket is totally and utterly invalid. So, yes, you should definitely speak to someone ASAP. You're not even entitled to pay the excess either - new ticket, penalty fare or (if you refuse to pay) a Byelaw 18 strict liability offence for which you can have no defence.

If there was any suspicion of intent (say you had a fake railcard or borrowed another) then you enter criminal charges territory.

(How's that for totally off topic?!)

I only ask this because it actually happened to me yesterday. I got on the train having bought a ticket and then realised I had left my (valid and current) railcard behind. It seemed rather unfair to have to pay £68 for a fare that even at full price would have been £23.

Did a test just now, speed test on 4G on my phone 18mbs down and 17 up, fired up the hotspot and connected my iPad to it and got this. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/1217804366

Why only throttle the download speed? And why don't they cut it off completely? This is on payg by the way.

EE allow tethering And are ultra fast. Close to 50mbps most days for me. Problem is they're not unlimited and not cheap.

Three will not stop your contract and change it over when it has gone over its renewal date. There are plenty of people who are still using the One Plan outwith their commitment. Three had a big push at the end of 2014 to change people over and then slowed down to a crawl. Much like their 4G roll out

They aren't, they put you into a pool that shares whatever resources are available. The pool you go into is the tethering pool, which means lots of people are tethering and downloading a lot.

They've taken their time to sort their shtik out, but it looks like 'now' for the implementation.
