Such a shame that BT Mobile won't allow Tethering on their 20GB Plan.
£25 (or £20 if you are already a BT Broadband Customer) for 20GB of Data per month split between phone and other devices as you require could be quite a winner, especially if you are likely to use more than the 12GB that '3' give you for Tethering. The 30Mbps speed cap that BT have doesn't worry me, since EE only have 4G in one place out of several where I visit (and its not likely to change anytime soon) so my usage is mostly always on 3G anyway. 3's 4G didn't tempt me to stay with them either, because around here, it doesn't exist, and you can't use what you aren't given, and their 3G service is terrible. £30 for Unlimited 0.5mbps?, and little chance of 4G anytime soon - no thanks. |

Forgot to add plan 2 included up to 12g personal hotspot. For the £20 per month.
I made a mistake rereading the letter they are offering me a £3 monthly discount instead of £33 offering me £30 for monthly rolling deal, 12g personal hotspot, all you can eat data and unlimited texts. I thought it was for a 12 contract. They said this deal not on website and so correct. If I don't do anything I automatically go on this dea, on 28 Feb. |

100MB for 24 hours £1.99
1GB for 7 days £6.99 10GB for 30 days £19.99 Good to know that it won't start automatically charging you if you go over though. If nothing else it allows me to threaten to leave via PAC and hopefully get the best possible offer from retentions, even if they aren't offering all that much these days. In fact looking more closely at the Vodafone offers I hadn't appreciated that the 6GB+ plans give 12 months of Netflix now, so that together with £60 cashback from quidco means it works out at £13.31 per month (since I already have Netflix anyway). Might just go when I'm given the letter! |

I had my letter yesterday.
I chatted with them online today and changed my plan to the 2GB rolling monthly plan for £14. I don't want to give them any more money than i'm giving them now, as I'm not happy with how they've executed this. I actually use on average about 7GB of data per month. But I can easily shave this down by using Wi-Fi at work which I don't at the moment and also stop downloading Spotify playlists on 4G! The only reason I've changed to a lower tariff with 3 is because I'm off to the USA in the next two months for two weeks so the Feel at home will be very useful. Once I'm back, I'll be heading off to EE or Vodafone. The one plan @ £15 was the only thing keeping me with 3. |

Also got my letter yesterday and looking at options. Whilst I'm kinda pissed with Three for changing it still probably the best option for me.
Already given Three 30 day notice on my existing contract that will convert to a PAYG number. Looking at setting up a new contract via quido which should help reduce the annual cost. Option 1 - AYCE data 200 mins works out at £14.16 average pm over the 12 month period factoring Quidco cashback (£70). Option 2- 12GB data 200 mins works out at £10.70 avergae pm over the 12 month period factoring Quidco cashback (-£50) and Three's current 3 month half price (-£25.5). I don't use many minutes and if I find I need more than 200 out going in month I'll probably just use one of the Three PAYG sims we have because it cost less than contract minute rates. Three has said I can transfer my current contract number to a new contract once it's converted to a PAYG. Thankfully my 30 day notice period ends just before my new billing period so I'm told no more monthly charges will apply. I will then need to review what to do in another 12 months. Any observations ? |

I would have thought you'd be better going to VF now to be honest. For the sake of £42 (14 days @£3 a day) you could have full roaming in the US without any of the horrible throttling you'll get with Three's free roaming.
14 days at £5 would be expensive though (£70), admittedly. However, it's not really comparable like for like as Three's offering isn't unrestricted. You can tether that data on Vodafone for one thing. |

It's £5 a day for the USA, but I'd seriously consider that over Feel at Home just to get true (possibly 4G) speeds without hindrance.

You can tether that data on Vodafone for one thing. Yeah it's a bit slow but it has been perfectly usable for me. Same in France/Italy too. I'll admit I've never tried YouTube or any other video streaming service. Spotify definitely didn't work. That's why I was surprised at Amazon Prime Music working... |

I wonder if Three is actively blocking certain ports and some things get through?
I mean it's a hard cap on speed as they let speed tests work normally, which is actually quite silky as that's a waste of data if they're trying to reduce their wholesale charges. |

To be honest I went over to California and NYC last year and found no problems whatsoever with the Feel at home service. I could search for places to eat, use Apple maps and even download an album on Amazon Prime Music...

I just posted this in another forum. Just so you all know my partner and myself who are both on the One Plan at £15 with the discount got our letters yesterday. After reading about Three moving people on to the new tariff it turns out there is nothing you can do to stop them if you are out of contract. After accepting this I phoned Three and got put through to cancellations, not the retention department. The person on the phone said the best deal they can do is AYCE calls, texts & data with 12GB for tethering for the £33 minus the £3 discount just like it said in the letters. after calling his bluff and asking for my PAC Code he transferred me to the retention department, this is where you want to speak to someone. I ask what they were able to do if I stayed with them and after some long haggling with the girl going back and forward with her manager I was able to get AYCE calls, texts & data with 12GB for tethering for £20 on a 12 month contract. The best I could get for my partner who did not want to spend anymore than £15 per month was AYCE calls & texts with 8GB of data for the phone or tethering on a rolling 1 month contract. I tried my best to get them to give her AYCE data on the phone if she signed up for 12 months but they just could not offer it. Hope this helps.

They offered me that but onky 200 mins of calls per month as I am a low user of calls. They said they not offering anyone over 12g of personal hotspot. But if you buy a add on its is £5 per extra 1g of personal hotspot. Otherwise if you use tethering you get a text or message on your mob ( can't rem) saying you used your 12g allowance and allowed no more. |

I haven't yet received the letter as I am not on SIM-only but my 24 month One Plan contract is up in March. I currently pay £41/month for the One Plan plus a 16GB iPhone 5s. To get the same phone today with AYCE 12GB tethering + AYCE minutes would cost £42. However a 16GB iPhone 6s on the same package would cost £61/month.
The SIM-only price per month for the top end package is £30/month so the price for the 16GB 5s is just £288 (24 x £12) which is a good deal compared to purchasing from Apple at £379. However the price for the 16GB 6s is £744 (24 x £31) which is remarkably bad value compared to purchasing direct from Apple for just £539. I could probably live with 12GB but prefer the 'no surprises' of AYCE so would prefer to pay the extra coupe of quid per month. I use WhatsApp for calls more then minutes & rarely use 200 minutes but unlike the SIM-only plans there is no option for AYCE data & 200 or 600 minutes. I am tempted by a 6s Plus but don't see any good deals. I shall probably opt for no new phone but switch to SIM-only AYCE data & 200/600 minutes. Which will cost £20-25/month depending on my negotiating skills. |

A quick look around the other network websites indicates that EE may be an option. I hadn't realised that while their plans are limited to 20GB of data that this can all be used for tethering. TBH I don't think that I ever used more than 20GB/month even when I first moved into my current place & didn't have broadband for several weeks.
You get Visual Voicemail with EE which would be a bonus as I have missed this ever since moving back from France where I had VVM on Orange. It's interesting to see that after Three has been leading with AYCE as its USP for the last 5 years that now they are de-emphasising this & the 12GB tethering limit really means that AYCE is pretty pointless. The EE offering of 20GB tethering is far more attractive. The catch is that EE only offer 20GB tethering on a contract. f you go SIM-only then you are limited to 10GB. I have been with Three for 5 years & been happy with the service but their offering is now not the 'no brainer' bargain that it used to be. My best contract deal was the iPhone 5 that I got with £150 Quidco cashback.. Three's prices & offers are similar to all the other networks now & probably inferior to some. It looks like EE could be the best deal for an iPhone 6s Plus with 20GB tethering & unlimited minutes & texts for £59.99/month & £149.99 up front. There also appears to be a £97.65 cashback offer from http://www.topcashback.co.uk/e_e/ |

If EE ever does a 20GB tariff, joining the likes of BT Mobile and Vodafone, then I can imagine an awful lot of people moving.
I think most people would acknowledge that EE is by far the best network in terms of coverage and speed, but it comes at a premium. I wouldn't mind paying the premium but the problem is EE doesn't have the tariff! It's mad. I am not going to buy some throwaway phone on a 2 year contract to get 20GB (or indeed, the 50GB one) and it confuses the hell out of me that EE hasn't done a 20GB SIM only plan. In fact, EE's decision not to has probably kept a lot of people on Three who would have gone ages ago. For Feel at Home, I can always use a PAYG SIM. |

Yes, I was in Salt Lake City last year* and used Three Feel at Home and it was passable. Grindingly slow in my experience but usable for basic tasks. I did wish I'd paid another operator for full data access though.
The regular response on here that one can get fast data roaming for £3 or £5 a day with VF irks me a little, as this all starts adding up, and not everyone wants or needs constant fast data access if they are on holiday (note I did say if - for say business trips it can be different). You could end up doubling your monthly bill with these add-ons - not everyone wants to do that, or thinks it represents VFM for them. |

It's stating the blindingly obvious, but not for incoming or outgoing calls or SMS using the number everyone has for you, which might not matter for you but would for others.
On Vodafone, EuroTraveller Plus is included on higher tariffs so my calls are covered. I can then pay £3 for access to my 20GB of data - or take a second phone with a PAYG SIM on Three. Or use a dual SIM phone and switch as necessary. |

I got my letter on Monday and after failing to get through to Customer Services on either Monday or Tuesday night eventually spoke to someone last night. I get the impression that lots of customers are leaving over this. I was told that no deals were on offer no matter how long you had been a customer of 3. Needless to say I gave them the 28 days notice and I'll now look elsewhere. My biggest bugbear is that roughly 1 in 3 months I go over the 2GB data figure. Ideally 3GB or a decent 4GB deal would suit me as minutes & texts aren't an issue.

Three has told me that perhaps there's another more suitable tariff for me, which is odd when they supposedly chose the best one - and offered me that amazing £3 discount not available anywhere else.
I pointed out that if I went for another 30 day tariff, I wouldn't get the £3 and then they asked if I'd ever been promised a discount and reminding me that when changing I would lose any discounts. I suspect the person on Twitter hasn't even read the letter being sent out. Three is offering a discount on the most expensive plan, but not the others (that I can see). |

Still not had my letter but by the look of things it may well just be delayed in the post. As there are some discounts on the Vodafone and EE SIM only plans that run out in a few days time I am thinking I may just request my PAC now to see if I get offered something vaguely decent by Three retentions (think I would accept £20 / month for AYCE data and 200+ minutes). If not then think I will give Vodafone a try.
