As a somewhat unsatisfied Virgin Mobile customer, I once assumed that at least I would be getting a similar coverage to that I enjoyed with Orange (who I should never have left) given they use the same network. I'm sure I'm not alone among the non-techy majority in that belief - in fact Virgin sales reps even claimed that was the case when trying to entice me from Orange - "oh don't worry, we use Orange too, so you won't see any difference", yada, yada, yada.
However that doesn't seem to be the case. I've experienced situations were I am standing smack bang next to mates on Orange/EE and yet their data and phone reception is superior to mine. In fact the Virgin data speeds seems a bit iffy in general a lot of the time .
Am I imagining it, or is there actually a technical reason that explains it? My contract ends soon and if the sales reps really are talking mendacious garbage it would be useful to know.
