I have a sky multiroom subscription and in my other room I only have a basic sky digibox.

I managed to get a 2nd hand sky+ box and wish to install this. I understand you have to ring sky and tell them the model number of the new box ??

Where can I find a dummies guide for installing a new box in ???

connect the box up.
insert your viewing card.
call sky and ask them to pair the card to the new box.

bare in mind you'll need 2 satellite feeds to connect to the new box if you want to use it fully (i assume you won't have this as the original box wasn't a sky+ box).

Mine IS Sky+ subscription but as I said, we have Sky+ multiroom. We have sky+ box as a main one but in our other room they gave us basic box.

yes, so in the other room how many satellite cables do you have? one or two?
you need two to fully use a sky+ box, so if that room only has one you will need another fitted.
if you can't do that then you will need to put the box into single feed mode which will restrict a lot of what it can do.

you still need to have the card paired to the new box though.

If the second box was just a standard receiver only (no record function) then it is possible that there is only a single lead from the dish to the box. This will work with a Sky+ box but with some limitations. You will not be able to record and watch every single possible combination of channels at the same time for example.

If two cables were installed with one unused then that would be ideal and let you use the Sky+ box without any restrictions.

But as posted above all you really need do is swap over the two boxes and then contact Sky to pair the card that was in the multiroom box with your new box.

You'll also need to enable Sky+ functionality on the multiroom box. Pairing a card which was in a standard (non-recording) box with a Sky+ or Sky+ HD box doesn't automatically turn on Sky+ functionality on that second card - but they will add Sky+ functionality to the card FOC if you ask them to, when you phone to pair the card with the new box.
