Not just you.

Also noting how traumatising it must have been not just for Matilda but also for Claudia who I understand was there at the time. If the Daily Mail's account from the eyewitness who put out the fire is to be believed, the whole experience must have been horrific for any bystander let alone a mother. It would take a while for any parent to get over a fright like that.

I'm sure that the producers will be discussing what they will do if she doesn't. If they aren't then they won't be doing their job. That being so, it is a perfectly legitimate topic for discussion.

That doesn't mean that those discussing it don't have any sympathy or love and respect for Claudia and her family.

Having said that, it is pretty obvious what will happen if she doesn't return. Zoe will continue to stand in for her as long as is necessary. After the reviews that Zoe got last week, they don't have any need to look anywhere else.

They certainly said live on Thursday as I specifically listened due to someone on another thread earlier in the week saying that Thursdays was recorded on Wednesday. I had discussed it with my friend on Thursday lunchtime so we both listened and heard it.

I do understand that the producers will be weighing up their options. That is their job.

I just find it distasteful that FMs think it is a suitable topic to start a whole new thread about. Maybe I am just in the minority in thinking that anyone who has such a devastating thing happen in their family deserves privacy, without people on forums, who don't even know them, speculating about something so trivial as a TV show. And I say that as a huge fan of SCD.

Doesn't Zoe sometimes say 'live' in her opening.

Yes, but Tess also says "yesterday" on Sunday night's results show, and we all know it was recorded on Saturday evening.

I just don't know why the BBC pretends.

I don't think Claudia will be back unless & until her daughter is well on the road to recovery. I assume she is still in hospital. I am sure Zoe will cope (she's also hosting the tour again this year).

Yes she does and I'm sure she wouldn't say that if it wasn't. Yes, Tess goes on about 'yesterday's show' on Sunday's results show, because there is indeed a 'yesterday's show', even though we all know the results show is recorded straight after Saturday's show. Tess never ever says Sunday's show is live !

I really dont think its distasteful . No one has been disrespectful . I am sure everyone wishes the child and Claudia the very best.

We will agree to disagree about whether it is distasteful. It just leaves a nasty taste in my mouth.

I started this threat because it just struck me that it would be a lot of hours for Zoe doing ITT and the main show!... it is coming up to Christmas after all and she does have a young family to look after!.... as well as all the preparation that xmas! takes ... yes she may well decide she can do it but!.... I just thought it was worth discussing what they might do if Claudia can't return this series!.......

I sincerely hope that her daughter is not to badly hurt and that she comes out of hospital very soon but I don't expect Claudia to rush back to the show in the near future and as it only runs for a matter weeks!, I do not see anything wrong in wondering what they will do!.................

No.....................it looks like there are still plenty here!!.....................

happen on the show itself. The show is, after all, the reason why we're all posting on here in the first place.

I don't see anything disrespectful or "distasteful" in the OP or any subsequent replies.”

Thank you!.....................

Having had the pleasure of working with the consummate professional that is Claudia Winkleman (at L!VE TV) I am sure that she will be back on set as soon as she feels that poor little Matilda is out of danger.

No. Everybody in spades has sent Claudia kind messages and realises that her dear little daughter will be her one and only priority for the future.

However, for most of us SCD is what we are talking about and it is reasonable to speculate on what may happen to the presenting team.

Love both Zoe and Claudia. Claude - sending you good wishes and lots of love.

Zoe is presenting a couple more programmes per week, not working a 14 hour shift in a coal mine. I'm sure she's delighted to help out her pal.

All this speculation is just not necessary.
