i think he peaked with his first couple of dances and has looked pretty static (or worse) since then, its a shame cos he is a talent, and i hope we get to see more of him on form.

i think he started filming EE this week so less time to practise now unlike before

Just think that the dances over the last couple of weeks haven't suited him.

I've only looked back as far as 2009:

2013 Patrick 36 (and I really liked Ben Cohen's tho' it only got 28)
2012 Louis as part of his fusion and showdance
2011 Harry 36
2010 Matt Baker 35
2009 Chris 30 (in week 1!) and Ricky W 32

So good dancers do it well. Stands to reason. It's just a trope they like to repeat ad nauseam to make the celebs feel better because they feel awkward about possibly looking lecherous.

Unfortunately based on the last two weeks I think he has no improved as much as was expected - sham I thought he would go far. Didn't the same thing happen to the other guy from Eastenders a few years back - think their schedules must put them under pressure.

I agree, but I also think he is being under marked, imo no way was Jakes rumba as bad as Alisons charleston....yet they both got the same marks.

Yep. He's this season's Sophie.
I stuck by Sophie right up to the final but gave up after that dreadful showdance (and voted for Abbey instead).
I had really hoped Sophie would get better, but sadly she had peaked at week 2.
And we never got to see her amazing Charleston again.

Hope this isn't the same scenario with Jake...
but I have a horrible feeling it will be.

He does seem to be, unfortunately. Quite shocked to see him near the bottom of the leader board.

I think that he'll be safe though.....

No. He's still a good mover and in touch with his body like a sportsman. The trouble is he had not absorbed the spirit of quite a different dance in the short space of time. He'll still wow with a showdance if he gets that far.

Granted the rumba is not easy for male celebrities BUT I had high hopes for this one .
It was cringeworthy , lacking in proper technique and I didn't like the choreography .

He reminds me a lot of Sophie last year who peaked with her Charleston.”

I think cringeworthy is a bit OTT imo

Yawn. Another woman randomly deciding Pixie is smug. When has she ever displayed anything close to smugness? The projection is pathetic.

Oi! Don't generalise. I'm a woman and I love Pixie. And Frankie. And Caroline

Yes of course, but at that stage I didn't think that Sophie deserved to win.

I really don't understand how you can think of Jake as a ringer. Has he a secret past as a dancer? As far as I know he has never danced in his life, which makes him about as much of a ringer as Judy Murray. At least back up this kind of mud-slinging with, you know, a fact or two.

Me too. I'm totally failing to vote with my ovaries (again), and love Pixie and Trent's partnership. She is a lovely dancer and he has choreographed some amazing routines. What's not to like? Frankie and Caroline are great as well.

I am a woman too, and I am just dismayed at every bloody year having to list to women pointlessly bitching about the young, attractive female contestants. It's depressing to see women being so sexist.

It's nothing compared to what people said about Natalie and Abbey last year either Every year the women get a ridiculous amount of scrutiny.

I agree, Jake's a good mover and would do a good showdance, but for me, he's too serious and "same-y". I find him somewhat boring and clinical. I don't think he's getting worse, he's just a one-trick pony. For an actor, he's surprisingly uncomfortable acting anything other than strong and tough. It's only in fast Latin that he lets himself go. Simon, Mark and Steve aren't as good technically, but they have better range.

I found it hard to believe he was a novice the way he started out - maybe he has just reached his level.

No.

If he had had that rumba in week two, then his other dances and his salsa had been tonight, what do you think people would be saying?

Janette is so good to watch that people forget about Jake IMO.

I don't know about getting worse, but he's definitely not improving. He's dancing to the same level now, as he did in week 1.

Someone said this just wasn't his dance, last week wasn't his dance either...
