Run Runaway by Slade - forgotten?
I remember this song off an old sports video, not sure I would have come across it otherwise. I like it in a comedy rock kind of way. Is it largely forgotten or am I imagining things?

The rock fans I know have not forgotten Slade. This song is well loved by them and myself included.

Much more remembered in the United States than here. In America it was massive, their biggest ever hit single to the point where if you mention Slade over there then they'll immediately think of those funny people in hats waving guitars outside a castle.
Here it will be remembered by those who have fond memories of 1984 in music (their last top 10 hit) but their early 70s stuff and especially that bloody Christmas song are played and mentioned much more. Shame, both that and 'My Oh My' were an absolutely astonishing comeback for a group that were essentially dead in the water by then, those two tracks were a brilliant return to form. |

Never particularly liked Slade of the early 70s but absolutely love this. Rock music from the early to mid 80s was the best!

First band I ever saw, on that actual tour in 1983.
Still one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Read their history from 1977-1980, it's very interesting. |
