I liked his arrangement of 'One Moment In Time' I thought that sounded quite modern, but yeah, I get what you mean!

I don't like the way he sings.........sorry.

He has a good voice, no question, but he uses it without much musicality IMO. Everything relies on him being able to sing rather than using his voice to give an overall coherent performance.

He sounds like a male diva, but not in a good way. He's showy and I never get the feeling that it is anything other than done for show.
Sometimes just because you can doesn't mean that you should.

Just think about Sinatra in comparison and compare how so much less added up to so much more.

Andrea is amazing! I feel the emotions through his singing. To me, he really conveys what each song is about through his voice and expressions and this makes me feel like he truly deserves his place there. I'd like to see him win it, tho I'm not sure if he will.

problem is he wont sell records - unless he goes classical - and im sure thats where they will go with him.

hes no pop/rock star - i`d take adam lambert any day musically.

Sometimes I think he didn't know what the judges were saying hha. Apart from that, I found Andrea much more boring than I've though he would be after seeing his 5th performance.

I have been very critical of this year's contestants but I honestly was blown away. It was the best performance of the series by a clear mile and he is a shining star in a series riddled with mediocrity. People are saying that there isn't a clear winner this year but if you ask me it's definitely a one horse race

Exactly - I think he is a clear winner. The singing and the likeability will win through for him - plus showing his gran again will be worth a few more votes in the final.

Absolutely this. He can sing, that can't be denied but I just don't like anything about him, his performances, his delivery etc. It does seem to be all show and no substance and I don't get any feeling or emotion when I watch him. I find him the one I zone out to as nothing about him grabs my attention.

He is a male Sam Bailey for me and that isn't a good thing. She left me completely cold last year and I feel exactly the same about Andrea. As you say, the greats are all about less being more which is something we never get from Andrea

Thanks, that was the phrase I was looking for.

He's fake, utterly fake which would be OK but he carries it on into his performances. I get the feeling that he is very, very calculating. Sometimes during a song you can almost hear the gear changes, "this is the bit where I show off my range".

I think this is very harsh! I'm not sure on what basis you can call him fake or Calculating There haven't been any negative stories in the press. He won a Italian singing contest when he was 13, he auditioned for Italian X Factor but never got past the pre-auditions, and made a low budget single in Italian without a label that didn't get anywhere. If somebody is trying to make it in the music industry it's natural they would make many attempts at these things!

He's a great singer, and he should show off his vocal range. Myself I'm a shy person and I play the saxophone, I love to (attempt to) do tricks and solos. What I'm trying to say is it does not make you fake or calculating to do these things. Andrea is by all accounts a thoroughly lovely person. I'm very biased towards him but there you go.

I think what is going on is he has an amazing voice that wants to get taken to church on big songs. That doesn't work on Queen tunes. He loves singing, and gets so into it that sometimes he loses context of his voice's placement in the song. His spontainaety is a strength and a weakness, depending on the track and, likely, how familiar he is with it...I loved his voice this week,as always, and it suited his tone and dynamics/range SO well, but he did overrun at the finale, losing the melody, and miss the tempo dragging notes out longer than they fit in several places toward the beginning of the song.

What an utterly ridiculous post

It's calculating to show off your vocal range in what is fundamentally a vocal talent show. I mean, what absolute rubbish.

If you're referring to his past....

Fleur has performed with DJ Fresh at various festivals throughout summer.
Jay James was signed and toured with Rebecca Ferguson.
Stevi west end star...

goes on and on....

Next week is **yawn** Big Band Week so don't expect Andrea to sing something contemporary next week either.

Still, he is easily the best singer in the competition this year but I still don't see him winning.

Some people really do love to put certain performers down, don't they?? Especially if they are a threat to their own faves.....on FB now, tbey are saying that he should go back to Italy and enter the singing contest there. .ok, after he WINS the singing competition here!!!

Andrea maybe is too good for the show. ..but he's living out his dream and im proud either way!!

Fake? He is probably the least fake in there. He is obviously a very confident singer why shouldn't he show off his voice, BUT you see all that confidence drain from his face as soon as he stops singing, he doesn't fake that at all. I thought he made that song his own, I loved it.

Absolutely. Great post, it's as Andrea said himself; (I'm paraphrasing but he said something like) 'When I sing I feel like a superhero.'

I won't argue if he wants to call that voice a superpower

I was thinking of that earlier! Rhydian was an old favourite of mine (I remember being utterly devastated when he lost), and Andrea a new favourite... It's hard to say who did it better, from Rhydian's I remember an amazing long operatic note that just made you go wow. But Andrea just has this amazing special quality that just gives me chills. So yeah, I don't know...

I thought it was as good as Rhydian's version - which is indeed a compliment to Andrea
