App For Travelling in London?

Does anybody know of a good app for somebody travelling to London - not knowing what to do when they reach the airport e.g. should I get a bus, a train etc or what Tube route. Is there an app that tells you the options available & the best one to choose to take you from the airport to your destination?

citymapper is a good choice for travelling around london generally.
As regards connections between the airport and London, the airport websites should have that information.

Google navigation is my travel companion, I have found it to be invaluable when travelling to cities I don't know.

Citymapper is fantastic and has totally changed the way I get around London. Previously I would never use the buses as the routes were so complex but this app makes it so easy.

As for the "best" way to get into town from the airports that all depends on you budget and how quickly you want to do it.

Thanks, guys.

I may have to travel to London alone in the coming months & am a bit nervous about it - don't want to end up having a panic attack from not knowing where to go etc. I'm fine when I'm with friends but going solo is a different story. Was hoping to find an app to take the stress out of the experience & Citymapper seems like a good one!

The great thing about Citymapper is that it has track closures programmed into it on the relevant days. In London, a small part of the Tube network is always being upgraded at weekends and is closed. So it's great to have this information in the app which plans routes taking this information into account on the relevant days.

Don't worry about it. Millions of people travel alone to London every year. Getting lost is half of the fun of the city. Even London regulars take a wrong turning occasionally but that just means it's a chance to explore a new part of the city. Back in the day you'd be thumbing through your A to Z to work out where you were but now you just need a quick glance at Google Maps.

Just a point, I have to visit London for work quite a bit. Sometimes walking can work out just as fast as public transport, especially in the centre of London, you will be surprised how close some tube stations are and so long as it's not pissing down a much more pleasant experience as well, just wear good walking shoes.

Citymapper it the app as others have said. In conjunction, a very good way of finding out which direction you are pointing in is satellite dishes. They always point south(ish).

That's one of the advantages of Citymapper as it always includes a walking route as well as Tube, bus and taxi options. I agree, if you are in Zone 1 then walk is often the quickest way to get from A to B and it's just about the best way to explore the city.

Another vote for City Mapper. Use it nearly every day in London.

For public transport, another vote for city mapper.
Google/waze for everything else.
