No they didn't. The Producers decided.

I did. Plenty did. Paul fans on voted into double figures on DS but we all knew he was vulnerable.

Regardless of it being a public vote, the X-factors manipulations these days are no more different to big brothers. They'll edit it however they please and make decisions that don't help a contestant. If they want someone out, they'll do what they can to put them in the most vulnerable situation

Having a fanbase is not enough. All you need is a poor song choice and a death slot, which Paul got on Saturday and that not even including his awful VT's and Simons comments.

He was screwed over without a doubt. What happened to him tonight wouldn't have happened with one of the chosen ones - Lauren, Fleur or OTY. Simon will endorse those he sees as meal tickets and dispose of those who don't pander to the shows way or fit his particular mould.

There is a reason why Katie Waissle survived four sing offs despite polling the least votes. The public votes only matter when it suits his propaganda.

Yeah, but I'm sure you would have said "I'm sending Paul home because I think Jay has more star quality", which is your opinion and is fair enough. Louis just stated "I can't decide" which is a cop out.

Simples get rid of sing off and send lowest home. That way you can't claim producers fix it as it would all be down to public vote

Lol Louis just doing his job. It's the public who are saving the shittest ones, Stevi and Jay should both be gone by now but it is the people at home who are saving them.

It's bloody fixed, don't think we can blame Louis, he's doing what he's been told to do. Something fishy tonight....votes announced earlier than usual, because they had the result they wanted. Would Louis have gotten away with just saying Jay was the better singer (even though he blatantly wasn't!) so I'm sending home Paul. Ex serviceman....not gonna get sent home on rememberence Sunday is he? What a load of old bollox!!!! Wonder who's next on the hitlist - Probably the talented Ben.

Votes = safe
Not enough votes = go home
There endeth the lesson.
Not a moron issue, more like an apathy issue.

That is the stereotypical answer of an imbecile, I hear this every year, Paul has been portrayed negatively for the last 2 weeks , the moronic public swallow the hype, the judges are meant to be there to make a decision in what they hear on the sing off, otherwise why not just do a public vote every week with no sing off.

This just makes me laugh. He got the lowest votes. He may have a good voice however he does not look like a pop star.

Oh dear!

The number of people on here who can't accept that sometimes an act just isn't liked by the public, is quite alarming.

I think Mel is the biggest shithouse if I'm honest.

Her song choices for Paul were terrible.

Another plonker, it is obvious the public are manipulate by Cowell for some reason, it has always been the same, that is why he has 4 acts left, not because they are better than others. 2 weeks ago Paul was 4th favourites, never in the bottom 2, Cowell attacks him and he his history, surely even the thickest person can see this.

He may have had a good voice but was a boring average performer who does not look like a pop star. He was hardly going to make it was he

So was Leona Lewis but it didn't do her any harm. Jay James is hardly exiting.

No, the producers didn't decide. The public did.

They gave Paul a naff song and a naff slot. That doesn't mean you couldn't pick up your phone and vote. They can't physically stop your votes.

Which is probably why Leona is struggling now. Anyway Leona looks like a star where i'm afraid Paul does not

Louis in a nutshell, I knew he would send it to deadlock. The way he didn't even deliberate, it was very obvious he had been told what to do.

Very amusing topic title btw

I wonder if Louis decided to go against what he was told and sent Jay home instead, would he be there for the 2015 series.

Imbecile?

Producers can manipulate song choice, staging and judges comments all they want but they CAN'T stop your votes. You loved Paul so much, pick up the phone and vote for him. You don't and he ends up in the bottom two and is out.

So no, not the stereotypical answer of an imbecile, but of someone who can grasp that in a competition where you win by getting votes, if you don't get the votes - you will be going home.

Christopher Maloney was stitched up every week with odd comments, staging, songs and VT's but guess what...he got the votes and came 3rd. How the world works...
