I'm thinking:

Fleur - Proud Mary (Tina Turner)
Jay - That's Life (Frank Sinatra)
Ben - Johnny B. Goode (Chuck Berry) - if that counts...

Lauren - Smile (Nat King Cole)

Only The Young - Tears Dry On Their Own (Amy Winehouse)

OTY - Hit The Road, Jack!

Lauren will probably get Feeling Good. Aside from maybe Dark Horse, Cheryl hasn't been too inspired with her song choices for her

I agree with Hit The Road Jack for OTY too! And I'm almost certain Jay will get That's Life with Louis saying "you really have picked yourself up and got back in the race.

Fleur could do Ain't No Other Man or Candyman by Christina Aguilera. When Alexandra did the latter it was big band week iirc? Both have a jazzy/cabaret/swing feel. Tina Turner is a good shout too though, I agree with Proud Mary or perhaps River Deep Mountain High. Stereo Kicks might get New York New York?

Not sure about Ben or Andrea... Hopefully the latter gets something quite soulful but doesn't belt too much.

Stevi - My Way

Next week it’s Big Band week, and we know what that means – ‘That’s Life’. This number has now been sung on three big band weeks, and on each occasion the act lumbered with it (Scott Bruton, Miss Frank and last year Abi Alton) has departed. It’s a song about phlegmatically accepting cruel fate, which concludes with the line “I’m gonna roll myself up in a big ball and die, my, my”.

My initial thoughts last night were that Fleur would get Proud Mary too, but she said on Xtra Factor it will be something they've never done before. I'm thinking she'll get Crazy Stupid Love by Cheryl. Would suit her perfectly. If she doesn't get it then Stereo Kicks will.

That would never pass as big band ever...people need to stick with the theme...

I'd love it if just for once they stuck to the real theme and only allowed proper big band songs.

I'd love Ben to do Mr Bojangles

It has trumpets in it so as far as X Factor are concerned, it qualifies for Big Band week. They've had stranger choices. They stuck to it fairly well last year though.

Two examples already in this thread- Candyman and Proud Mary, both have been done on big band week. I've got the same opinion as you in that they shouldn't be allowed, but they're flexible with the themes. So far this year they've had songs on number ones week that never made number one, and a song on 80s week that was released in 1990s. So they aren't going to stick to it next week either.

I think it fits...candyman is new, but fits the big band style and proud Mary has big band characteristics in it. .I don't see how crazy stupid love has anything that fits the style of big band...

Lauren - God Bless the Child

Jay - Feeling Good (Muse version)
Ben - Ain't that a kick in the head/What a Wonderful world?
Stevi - That's Life
Fleur - Crazy in Love (Emeli Sande version from Gatsby)

Andrea - New York State of Mind (would be incredible)

SK - Smile (although will probably be something upbeat)
OTY - Hit the Road Jack
Archibald Leach

Here is what I would give them all to sing, but no doubt the big band theme will be used very loosely and we will end of with songs that would not normally be considered big band.

Stevi- Mash up of, Rythm of Life/Magic Moments
Ben- The Wanderer
Fleur- Mack the Knife
Jay- Moon River

Only the Young- Somethin' Stupid
Stereo Kicks- Hit the Road Jack

Andrea- Return to Me

Lauren- When I Fall in Love
JazzyJaney
