This quote perfectly shows just why people are incensed by the manipulation that goes on. This is almost exactly what Cowell said!! If you've watched it down the years, you'll know just how easy it is for a few well-timed negative comments to affect what the viewers think. Cowell in particular is a master at the art and he knows it. He knows that people listen to him because he has (had) a reputation for "telling it like it is".
