Persimmon
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persimmon
I ate one on Saturday from Tesco for the first time. I must admit I had never heard of this fruit before this weekend but it was deliciously sweet. Anyone here enjoy it or have any recipes based on it? |

One of my favourite fruits. I love them when they go really soft, so would wait a week or 2 usually before eating them. They can be very messy then! Just munching on one now.

I assume once they get to the soft, messy stage you just cut in half and eat with a spoon (like a kiwi)?

too sickly for me. I prefer fruit with a bit of sharpness.

I thought I vaguely recognised the name.
I know then as Sharon Fruit though. Haven't had one for over 15 years. |

Love them, but don't see them often. Sharon fruit is easier to find, but so small.

I don't like them when they've soft........I only like them when they're hard
Then they're like sweet carrots I just wash it and eat the whole thing |

I like the nice smooth mellow taste of them. I once bought Kaki fruit, from a stall, and they were several times bigger than Persimmon or Sharon fruit. This was quite a few years ago but I've never seen them again.

I always thought Persimmon was a house-building company?
I never knew it was a type of fruit as well.

I prefer them firmer, and sliced thinly.
I think they are sort of half way between an apple and a pear. |
