As a Dannii superfan and cheryl fan i've always wondered did the girls ever really get on or did they just play up for the camera. I know this series that there seems to be a good dynamic between mel and cheryl but i always loved the dannii and cheryl one i feel they complemented eachother and worked well together but did they actually get on were they friends ? i know series 4 they were potrayed as enemies in the media but series 5 & 6 it was more just a 'fashion wars thing'

They've both maintained that they had a great working relationship, but were never friends were they'd hang out after work.

All they've ever had to say is nice things about each other, but they were both very different. Cheryl and Mel are much more well suited, as are Dannii and Nat on the Australian show.

I think they both enjoyed working together and had a lot of fun together but they never hung out after work. I think they did get a lot closer in series 7 after Dannii had a baby and Cheryl had her divorce.

Both of them have said they had respect for each other and that they enjoyed the fashion their wars, Dannii still follows Cheryl on twitter. I defiantly prefer Cheryl and Dannii (I am a massive Channii fan) to Cheryl and Mel but I love Nat and Dannii on XF Aus.

I read somewhere that during the 2008 series, where after Louis accused Dannii of stealing a song that he wanted for JLS and Dannii got upset, Cherly held Dannii's hand under the judges table for support. And also, in either the 2009 or 2010 series, one of the contestants left the show, (can't remember who it was), and they were in Dannii's group in a previous series. Dannii didn't want him to go and got upset and the camera then cut to Cheryl giving Dannii a hug.

Dannii and Cheryl maintained a very good working relationship. Mel and Cheryl only seem to get on as well as they do because Mel is the one actively initiating the friendship.

Dannii and Cheryl were Ice + Ice

Mel and Cheryl are Fire + Ice. Opposites attract.

I always sensed tension between them, especially 2008. They looked really awkward when they had to interract with one another. I think in 2009 and 2010 they got to know eachother a little bit, but still never really made the effort to become proper friends. It made me smile when Dannii beat Cheryl with Matt after being outshun by her for so long

After the shade Cheryl threw on Xtra Factor the other night by saying that Mel is easily the best fellow judge she has worked with, I'd say no.

To be fair, she has to say that. She can't exactly say that Mel is okay but she prefers Dannii with Mel sitting there.
