The list mentioned there is missing one thing. Eminem has never harmed anyone. He doesn't do anything to anyone, it's not like Jimmy Saville or the evil bankers putting people out their homes. Music is entertainment. It shouldn't influence anyones real life.
Look at this forum. I can only imagine most of you are between 16 and 25. No offence to you all, but your Ed Sheeran's and La Roux's, they're fine, even your Lady Gaga's are fine, they're harmless singers but they're not on the same level as an Eminem. If they were that big a deal they would be selling 10's of millions of records but they're not, because no one cares about them on that scale.
Here's a much better way of representing this music forum. When it comes to the Lady Gaga's and Ed Sheeran's, La Roux's, Lily Allen's of the world......people would rather download their music for free which is easily done.
When it comes to Eminem, people, in their millions, have no problem, PAYING MONEY for the music. There's your difference right there. That's a fact Dee. Eminem's fans PAY MONEY FOR HIS MUSIC. They speak with their wallets. He is the 16th top selling artist of all time and he's only been selling records for 16 years. You know what relic is? Half the other people on that list that have been making music for 30, 40, 50 years. Those are relics. Not a man that's only 42 and is already 16th on the list. What about the artists above him like MIchael Jackson and Abba and Celine Dion? They've been kicking about a lot longer than 16 years, those are the relics and even then it's mostly greatest hits albums.
I think what really sticks in some people's throat is that the world, the music buying public buy and large don't care about current music. It's not good enough to pay for. They'd rather get a free mp3 from a google search than go and buy the CD/Vinyl. It must really anger a lot of you young people that someone like Eminem in 2014 holds such a command over the music industry and all these smaller artists that try their best still don't get the recognition you think they deserve. People vote with their wallets. If millions of people are paying money for your music that means they care. I'd say 150 million singles and albums sold in 16 years is a pretty big indication people care about you.
