Shelf life Fresh Turkeys

Supermarkets are advertising Fresh Turkeys, will be in store on Dec 19th. I assume they will have been killed at least 2 days before that.
If I buy on 19th or 20th , and keep in Fridge, will they still be OK on Christmas day

I think the point of getting them on the shelves a week before is to ensure customers don't have to engage in a free for all the day before or risk finding they're gone.
Over the years we've got one early and frozen it for a day or so, we've also preordered fresh from a butcher and we've also taken our chance in a late free for all.
Depends on your stress levels.
