We know about River and Queen Elizabeth.

We can assume he was married to Susan's mother.

Do we know about a fourth?

He also married Marilyn Monroe though he wasn't sure if the chapel was real or not.


However the 10th Doctor in Blink implied that he had already been married more than once at that point and that would be before Liz the First, River and Marilyn.


So Marilyn may not be the fourth and there is an earlier wife.

Was it not to Marilyn Monroe, during the events of A Christmas Carol?

Are we sure Blink was before his marriage to Liz? We only saw the marriage in Day of the Doctor and we don't know where in his timeline he was at that point. It could have been before Blink, couldn't it?

If Day of the Doctor comes between Shakespeare Code and Blink, it could work. But only if he doesn't forget about marrying Liz because of the effect of his future self.

Day of the Doctor for Ten takes place between Water of Mars and The End of Time.

When he turns up on the Ood Sphere marrying Elisabeth is one of the things he lists as doing between getting the summons (end of Water of Mars) from Ood Sigma and turning up (start of End of Time).

I assume he would just forget the events of Day of the Doctor only from the point at which his timelines crossed. I believe he married the Queen before he met the other Doctors so that memory should still be there.

I don't think so, given that the idea was to prove to the Cybermen that she was the Doctor by telling them all the facts about him. If they had a database and could verify the information it would not be sensible to reel off stuff that wasn't accurate!

I imagine that some details were hazed out by the crossed timelines but enough was filled in that it still felt right.

Like how the War Doctor thought he had destroyed Gallifrey. He didn't forget pressing the button or Gallifrey being "destroyed" but he didn't remember the specifics in which the others had been there too.

Unless he "got married, that was a mistake" is one thing he did and "Good Queen Bess etc.. " is another???

I suppose they could cheat a bit and say Tennant remembers marrying Liz but just not that the other doctors were there .

Not exactly. He hadn't realised that the coffee was considered a proposal but they never actually married!

He was only engaged to Cameca and denies the legitimacy of the marriage to Marilyn. But that's an interesting link as it shows that he married someone in the books (Scarlette). Maybe it's a nod to that!

You might be right. I'll have to rewatch. I just remember the doctor being shocked that he was married not engaged. That would have been easier to get out of.

So there's memory of the events, 10 probably even remembers meeting 11 and War remembers meeting the two of them. But from when they arrived on Gallifrey, it gets hazy, and so he thinks he blew up Gallifrey. He doesn't remember doing so, since it never happened. But he planned to, and next he remembers he's in his TARDIS regenerating and Gallifrey is gone, so the brain fills in the blanks.
