Iceland - selling exotic meat/burgers
I bought this from Iceland - http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...tucker-4587755
The pack contains 2 Ostrich burgers, 2 Kangaroo burgers, 2 Crocodile burgers and 2 Ostrich fillets. Just thought I would let you guys know, just incase anyone else fancies trying something a little different. I don't normally shop at Iceland, but as i was walking by the local store I saw a poster in the window and had to pop in a buy a pack! Going to give it a go tonight ![]() http://groceries.iceland.co.uk/icela...t-910g/p/57834 |

I've always been tempted to try a chicken tikka lasagna so might pop in and get one of those and these burgers as well.
Peter Andre says they have some good deals

My initial reaction is "arghh," but that's because I've never considered these animals eatable. Now, i'm kinda curious. Not enough to go and buy it, though.

I'm also convinced I've eaten croc but as I can't recall where, I'm doubting myself on that one. |

I've had Ostrich steak before. It's very lean and if not cooked right can be chewy (I guess).
When I had it I was bedridden after an operation and my father was cooking my meals. The term 'cooked to buggery' could have been invented for what he served up ![]() This thread reminds me that tis the season for LIDL to stock their exotic meats. I missed out on the Reindeer last year. |

I think that was definitely poorly cooked then. When I've had ostrich it's been lovely, cooked rare and it's been like a fillet steak, you shouldn't even need a steak knife for it.

I've eaten ostrich in our local Indian - "locally farmed"! - and I've eaten kangaroo in our HO restaurant when I worked.
I'm also convinced I've eaten croc but as I can't recall where, I'm doubting myself on that one. I've had kangeroo steak - very gamey and quite tough. Though I shouldn't judge on just one tasting - the first few times I had pigeon I was very unimpressed, but have since had some delicious pigeon breasts. I might try Icelands offering - and like degsy shall have to check out this years exotic dead animal range in Lidl. Quite enjoyed the reindeer steak and the partridge in past years

Just checked out the link. The Ostrich Fillets say "Pre-Cooked Portioned Fillet", I've not come across this before, does that mean it's partly cooked? Sounds odd if so.

Iceland should do dog burgers as thousands of unwanted dogs are put down in the UK every week. Then people with a hankering for exotic meats could tuck in.

It'll be human burgers next! imported from a third-world country/island where those kind of factories are perfectly legal.
