BBC iPlayer Radio on desktop computer
Now that iPlayer Radio has been removed from BT Youview I want to find an easy way to use the desktop computer version across two TV's
My existing setup is: Lounge - TV - SKY HD Box - BT Youview Box Bedroom - TV The two existing devices in the lounge transmit via an HDMI switch and an HDMI splitter to feed both the TV in the lounge and via a 15m HDMI cable to the bedroom. (Both TV's show the same source depending on the setting of the switch). Control of the devices from the bedroom is via a wired IR system with a receiver in the bedroom and separate transmitter in front of each device including the HDMI switch in the lounge. What I would like to do is connect a desktop computer also in the lounge via HDMI out from the graphics card to the existing switch which has a spare input. I can naturally control that computer from a keyboard and mouse in the lounge but how do I remotely control the desktop computer from the bedroom. I'm assuming that a traditional wireless mouse and keyboard will not work over my existing wired IR. Is there maybe some handheld device that contains enough functionality to manage the functions of iPlayer radio and could turn the computer on and off remotely from the bedroom? Apologies if I have given too much background to my query but the main question is really in the last paragraph above. Any help appreciated. |

Download an app called 'splashtop'. It mirrors your pc screen to your tablet or phone and you can control the cursor on the pc using the device, this means you can go to your start button and shut down the pc via your device.

I wonder what distance an up to date cordless mouse/keyboard combo can work over? |

I'd quite like to do something similar and I'm kicking myself now, because I previously had an Windows Media Centre Edition PC, which was supplied with a remote control. I'm sure somebody would have found a clever way to make it work.
